Dr. Ingrid Solano
Psychologist, PhD
Making sense of trauma, and the impact of trauma, can be accompanied by the fear that you will never be able to overcome the distress you feel when you remember the experience or when those intrusive nightmares, flashbacks, and negative thoughts come crashing into your awareness. Through trauma-focused therapy we reclaim confidence, hopefulness, intimacy, safety, self-esteem, and trust. I have specific expertise in treating trauma symptoms related to sexual assault, intimate partner violence and emotional abuse, military sexual trauma (MST), childhood and complex sexual trauma, violence, and combat trauma experienced by Veterans. These experiences can impact physical health, and daily life.
Many people will experience a form of trauma in their lives. Trauma can come with feelings of shame, anger, and confusion. Posttraumatic stress is a normal human reaction to traumatic events. However, for some individuals this stress persists and interferes with their ability to live the life that they want. I work with complex cases that sometimes include dissociation, numbness, anger, risky behaviors, and years of avoidance. The treatments I provide are the most powerful and effective treatments available for these conditions. I have expertise in individual, as well as relationship (i.e., with a partner) based trauma-focused therapies. I have experienced many times how these treatments help people gain new perspectives about what happened to them, develop a sense of empowerment over their trauma, and improve their lives. These treatments can also be helpful if you feel stuck following experiences of trauma, even if you don’t have PTSD. If you’re unsure whether you want to discuss your trauma, or unsure which approach feels like a good fit for you, we can discuss your concerns. We will explore trauma-focused care that builds upon your current support, coping skills, and personal experience. I primarily employ time-limited, evidence-based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies (CBT) such as CPT, PE, and CBCT. (See Individual and Couples Therapy based Trauma-Focused Services.)
In psychological literature, stressors are defined as events and conditions (e.g., losing a job, death of an intimate partner) that cause change and require that the individual adapt to the new situation or life circumstance. Stress processes can include the experience of prejudice events, expectations of rejection, hiding and concealing your authentic self, internalized homophobia, intimate partner violence, discrimination, and ameliorative coping processes that have become bad, ineffective habits. These experiences can be particularly painful when there is social pressure to conceal your experiences, or stigma. I address what it’s like to have no one to talk to about these experiences, and any distress that comes from having nowhere to do this work safely. I practice LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy that considers the impact of minority stress and chronic stress responses. Aside from these stress processes, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and heterosexuals who report any same-sex sexual partners over their lifetime, have greater risk of childhood maltreatment, interpersonal violence, trauma to a close friend or relative, and unexpected death of someone close.

Experiences of sexual abuse can deeply impact emotional safety, attachment, identity, and trust in both yourself and others. I provide a trauma-informed, attachment-based space where your story is honored and healing unfolds at a pace that feels safe.
Using Internal Family Systems (IFS), we gently work with parts that may carry fear, shame, anger, numbness, or self-blame. Through a developmental and Emotionally Focused lens, we explore how early attachment injuries may shape current relational patterns. Therapy focuses on nervous system regulation, restoring boundaries, rebuilding self-trust, and strengthening secure internal attachment.

Louise Perry
Registered Psychotherapist, IFS UKCP HCCP BAAT
I work with adults who have experienced sexual abuse and its ongoing psychological impact. Sexual abuse can affect how people relate to their bodies, emotions, relationships, and sense of agency, often in ways that are complex and difficult to articulate.
My work draws on Integrative Art Psychotherapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS), offering ways to explore these experiences without imposing pace or expectation. Sessions focus on understanding how the effects of abuse are held internally, including protective responses that may have developed over time. We may work through conversation, creative exploration, or a combination of both, depending on what feels most manageable and useful.

Sexual Abuse Recovery: Experiences of sexual abuse can leave deep emotional, physical, and relational wounds that may affect how you feel in your body, how you trust others, and how you relate to intimacy, safety, and control. You may struggle with anxiety, shame, numbness, flashbacks, boundaries, intimacy challenges, or feeling disconnected from yourself in ways that are difficult to explain or fully understand.
As a therapist, sexologist, and trauma-informed practitioner, I provide a safe, grounded, and compassionate space to process what happened at your own pace. Together, we focus on helping your nervous system feel safer, understanding how the trauma has impacted your present life, and gently working through the emotional layers that may still be held in the body and psyche.
This work is not about rushing healing or forcing forgiveness. It is about restoring your sense of safety, rebuilding trust in yourself, and reclaiming your body, voice, and personal power in a way that feels fully supported and deeply respectful of your experience.

Dr. Daniele Levy, Bay Area Cognitive Therapy
Psychologist, PhD, MBA
When working with clients who have experienced sexual abuse, I use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to help them process and reframe the trauma. CPT helps individuals identify and challenge unhelpful beliefs related to safety, trust, power, control, intimacy, and self-esteem that often arise after abuse. We work together to explore and challenge these thoughts, facilitating healing and fostering a healthier, more empowered sense of self, while also addressing emotional and cognitive responses tied to the trauma. This approach is designed to promote lasting recovery and improved mental well-being.

Some folks may recover to the point of needing less frequent sessions, sometimes something will activate and more or longer sessions may help for a period of time. One doesn't need to be diagnosed to do this work. Some folks have patchy memories or doubt their memories, that's natural. All are welcome. What is asked is that folks show up with a willingness to meet what's coming up for them as compassionately as one can as they recover. The practitioner will offer lots of support with this as the client is moving through memories, feelings, flashbacks, symptoms, situational challenges, activations...If you have questions, please feel free to ask.
