Alexander Tice
Psychologist, PsyD
Dr. Tice specializes in the treatment of OCD, utilizing the "gold standard" treatment for OCD: Exposure and Response Prevention (E/RP). ERP is a highly effective intervention for OCD, and involves learning concrete skills for managing obsessive, intrusive thoughts and the corresponding distressing emotions. OCD manifests uniquely in each person, and Dr. Tice works with each client to identify their specific OCD experience, as well as the individualized treatment plan for them. ERP helps each person face their fears, and learn to be able to tolerate uncertainty and discomfort. Reach out if you have any questions about how ERP could be right for you!

Greta Carlson, Psy.D., ABPP
Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Psychologist
I provide prolonged exposure (PE) therapy for OCD. In this type of treatment, you learn skills to regulate anxiety as it arises in response to environmental triggers, and work on using these skills in session when faced with a compulsion-triggering stimulus. We focus on psychoeducation on obsessional thinking and compulsive behavior patterns, and gradually work with you to use skills instead of engaging in compulsions, so you can have more time and and attention for your relationships, interests, and passions.

Matthew Syzdek
Psychologist, PhD, LP, MBA
If you can't turn off your mind and your thoughts are taking over your life, there is a path forward towards a more fulfilling life. Don't gamble when choosing a therapist. You deserve a psychologist who will adapt the best science to your specific needs and goals. Many therapists themselves are burned out and can't give the best care to their clients. Dr Syzdek built a small boutique practice where he limits the number of clients he treats, so he can give his clients the time, thought, and dedication that they deserve. Dr Syzdek combines compassion with the science of behavior change to help you make the the difficult decisions in life and take action, so you can live a happier life, thrive at work, love your relationships, and have fun again. Dr Syzdek treats OCD and related conditions typically using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and exposure therapies. These approaches combine mindfulness, acceptance, and cognitive strategies to help you live your life again and find relief from the the struggle.

Does this sound like your experience of OCD?
You can’t stop thinking about something. In order to feel better there’s something you HAVE to do. You can’t relax without doing whatever that is. You’re preoccupied with worry over something and whatever it is you have to do feel better.
This often leads to…
Difficulty staying present. Not enjoying your life as much due to being preoccupied with something. Feeling nervous and anxious. Feeling Frustrated with having to do a behavior over and over in order to move forward.
OCD is short for obsessive-compulsive disorder which includes two issues: Obsession and Compulsion.
Obsession is when stress and worry building the system, starting with a thought about a particular issue.
A compulsion is a behavior. And unless you do the behavior, you can’t relax and move forward.
I work with clients with OCD using mindfulness.
When you notice your mind starting to get preoccupied around an obsession with something and the stress starting to build, you can notice where you feel the sensation of that worry in your body.
By staying present with that sensation, it will move and change and the worry will move through your body.
When the urge to do a compulsive behavior arises, you can likewise notice where you feel the sensation of that urge in your body and stay present with it. As you stay present with it and do not act on the urge, the sensation will move and change and the urge will pass.
In this way, we can use mindfulness to come back to the present moment and not discontinue the cycle of obsession and compulsion.
I’d be honored to support you in using mindfulness to feel better, decrease the presence of OCD in your life, and find calm presence.
