Chicago, Illinois therapist: Tina Mavalankar, licensed clinical social worker
Anxiety or Fears

Tina Mavalankar

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW
I specialize in helping clients navigate anxiety, whether it shows up as constant worry, racing thoughts, perfectionism, people-pleasing, panic, or feeling perpetually on edge. My work is collaborative and compassionate, drawing from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and somatic and mindfulness-based techniques to calm the nervous system and shift unhelpful thought patterns. I help clients understand how anxiety operates in their lives, develop tools to tolerate uncertainty, set boundaries, and respond to stress with greater flexibility rather than avoidance. My goal is to create a safe, steady space where clients can build confidence, reclaim a sense of control, and live more fully instead of letting anxiety run the show.

Naperville, Illinois therapist: Ashley Pinto, therapist
Anxiety or Fears

Ashley Pinto

Therapist, LCPC, CCTP
For many women, anxiety and panic are not just thoughts in the mind—they are experiences held in the body. Chronic worry, sudden waves of fear, tightness in the chest, racing thoughts, or a constant sense of being on edge are often signs of a nervous system stuck in survival mode. These responses can develop over time in response to stress, overwhelm, trauma, or long-standing pressure to stay “high-functioning” while ignoring your own needs. Through integrative somatic therapy, I help women learn to work with their nervous systems rather than against them. Our work focuses on restoring a felt sense of safety, increasing capacity for calm, and gently unwinding fear-based patterns at a pace that feels supportive and empowering. Healing doesn’t mean eliminating anxiety altogether—it means building resilience, choice, and trust in yourself and your body so fear no longer runs the show. My weekly insurance-based therapy caseload is currently full, however, I do have openings for my customized Therapy Intensives that are specially designed to offer you a more efficient and streamlined experience. Please visit my website for more details on how we can work together.

Seeking help is a powerful step to improving your quality of life. Talking to someone about whatever your concerns are is something that almost anyone can benefit from, but many people are afraid to reach out. If you are considering therapy or coaching, I applaud you, and I really do want to help you find what you need to feel POWERFUL and help you develop the tools to have peace in your life. I enjoy working with diverse clients, and have treated patients on the inpatient as well as outpatient basis. I began providing therapy in 1996, and have worked full time in several local hospitals before deciding to work full time in outpatient private practice. Though I work with many populations, I enjoy helping individuals with issues of trauma as well as working with couples. I work with all age ranges and have helped clients with a range of diagnosis. I use a variety of techniques, including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and EMDR. I am also a Certified Hypnotist and a trained mediator.

Living with anxiety can turn even the simplest of daily tasks into daunting challenges. What might seem effortless to others can trigger intense worry, restlessness, and even emotional paralysis for those grappling with anxiety. Whether you've inherited a genetic predisposition to anxiety from your family or have been thrust into this state due to uncontrollable life circumstances, the struggle is real. It could even be a blend of various factors contributing to your anxiety. But regardless of its origins, there are effective methods to alleviate anxiety, regain a sense of self-control, cope with everyday hardships, and confront difficult situations with confidence. As a licensed psychologist, I wield one of my profession's most potent tools: the ability to teach you how to harness the immense potential of your mind to reshape your responses to life's twists and turns. My specialized training in neuropsychology, EMDR, clinical hypnosis, and somatic techniques equips me to offer profound assistance to those battling anxiety. I employ meditation, mindfulness, guided imagery, breathwork, and visualization to guide you in quelling your symptoms and taking charge of your anxiety. Furthermore, I delve into the underlying negative thoughts and core beliefs that may be fueling your anxiety, arming you with invaluable self-empowerment tools to navigate your inner experiences and minimize suffering. Anxiety is a multifaceted adversary, encompassing various forms such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, Social Anxiety, Phobias, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Most frequently, it manifests as chronic worry and fear, casting a shadow over every aspect of life. Nonetheless, with the right therapeutic strategies, I can guide you towards seizing control of your thoughts, conquering your anxiety, and embracing a life brimming with serenity and happiness.

Depth psychology emphasizes the importance of exploring both the conscious and unconscious aspects of the mind. It acknowledges that anxieties often stem from unresolved conflicts, suppressed emotions, and unrecognized desires that reside in the unconscious. As much as I enjoy working with dynamics, I also hold a lot of compassion for the internal dynamic/relationship one has with themselves too. The way that we interact with ourselves and our emotions can exacerbate anxiety. By helping clients hold space for their own emotions, they also learn how to better cope with anxiety/depression/stress/self-esteem.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW, NCPsyA
Anxiety often develops as a survival strategy in response to earlier instability, trauma, or chronic stress. I help adults understand the deeper roots of their anxiety while also building practical tools for nervous system regulation and cognitive restructuring. Using trauma-informed psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and mindfulness-based practices, we address both the underlying beliefs that fuel anxiety and the physiological patterns that keep it active. The goal is not simply symptom reduction, but a lasting sense of safety, confidence, and internal steadiness.

New York City, New York therapist: Lenny Gallo, licensed clinical social worker
Anxiety or Fears

Lenny Gallo

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW
Anxiety is a perceived fear about a future that has not yet happened. It presents itself as worry and panic and can cause physiological changes in the body, such as pounding heart, sweating, racing thoughts, and irritability. Experiencing occasional anxiety is a normal part of life. However, people with anxiety disorders frequently have intense, excessive, and persistent debilitating worry and agitation about everyday situations. Anxiety disorders often involve repeated episodes of sudden feelings of intense anxiety and fear or terror that reach a peak within minutes (panic attacks). These feelings of anxiety and panic interfere with daily activities, are difficult to control, are out of proportion to the actual danger, and can last a long time. You may notice that you avoid places or situations to prevent these feelings. Anxiety can actually be a good thing, however. When we learn how to work with it, rather than fighting it, we may find that symptoms begin to go away on their own. My approach to treating anxiety is to utilize a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to examine anxious thoughts, figure out ways to readjust our thinking, and develop better coping skills. Together we can work on how to manage this feeling so that you can take back control of your life.
