Asking for help is challenging enough, and I believe that the online format removes some of the other stressors normally associated with beginning therapy. One of the most important "ingredients" for success in therapy is feeling comfortable in the therapy setting. With online therapy, clients enjoy the convenience of meeting with me from wherever they feel most comfortable. Online therapy also eliminates the need for a commute to an office or sitting in a waiting area. With some of the stress eliminated, we can really get to work!

Seattle, Washington therapist: Sumer Statler Aeed, psychologist
Biopsychosocial

Sumer Statler Aeed

Psychologist, Licensed Psychologist
Telehealth psychology support for life adjustments, trauma, relationships, and body issues. With technology, you can experience all the benefits of in-person therapy in the comfort and privacy of your own home and have continuity of care when you travel. It can be especially helpful to those who find it challenging to travel to an office for appointments due to location, work, children at home, lifestyle, or other practical or personal reasons. You may be located abroad or be a professional who travels, telehealth allows you to get the support and resources and meet you where your life is at. While there are multiple ways that counseling can take place online, I work primarily with face-to-face video conferencing via Zoom and, on occasion, telephone sessions. I always hold my sessions in a quiet and confidential space, giving you the same confidentiality & professionalism that you experience within an office setting. Most, if not all, of my clients, find virtual sessions to be highly effective and convenient. They allow for the comfort and safety of therapy in your own space, and no travel time is often less vulnerable than needing to go to an office. Research of multiple studies finds that online therapy is equally effective as in-person for most cases. That being said I always advocate for what works best for each individual and it is wonderful to have choices to find your best path whichever that may be. If you are not tech-savvy or anxious about using technology, I'll make it as seamless as possible. I have chosen a platform that is easy to use, and I am happy to assist you with any questions or concerns. A common concern I hear from clients regarding online therapy is finding a quiet and/or confidential space when you’re homebound with children, and/or family members or roommates. Please plan this out in advance so you have quiet and privacy during your session. Since it is so convenient many times people forget to allow themselves a few minutes to "switch hats" and allow themselves a few breaths and get settled into being present and in the head/body space for your session. Headphones or AirPods can often make audio clearer or provide more privacy, but are not necessary. Given that video sessions can be conducted on your smartphone, clients have found it helpful to go to a park, connect from wherever you may be, and/or walk around your neighborhood. Get creative and support yourself. Find a private space that allows you to receive support no matter where you are. You are welcome to have pets join your space if you find that comforting and supporting, and you may see my fellow feline/canine therapists join in one of our sessions on my end.

Online therapy doesn’t have to feel distant or impersonal. In fact, my clients often tell me our virtual sessions feel just as warm, authentic, and deeply connected as if we were sitting in the same room. I specialize in helping healthcare providers, executives, and high-achieving professionals who feel burned out, stuck, or quietly overwhelmed—especially folks who’ve been so busy taking care of everyone else they’ve lost touch with themselves. My approach combines evidence-based behavioral science, genuine empathy, and practical strategies designed specifically for your unique challenges and goals. Dina Hijazi

Psychologist, PhD, CSAT
Hi all, I’m Dr. Dina Hijazi, PhD, CSAT. My clinical work focuses on the holistic treatment of relationships—with both self and others. This includes supporting individuals, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, intimacy disorders, trauma, and addiction, always with a focus on emotional, psychological, and social well-being. With over 35 years of experience I'm sure I can help you. My educational journey includes a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Purdue University, a Master’s from Notre Dame University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. Postdoctoral training in family systems therapy and trauma/addiction work was completed under the mentorship of Pia Mellody and Patrick Carnes. I also hold national certifications in Sex Addiction Therapy (CSAT), Multiple Addiction Therapy (CMAT), and training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Sharing this work with broader audiences has been deeply fulfilling—whether through The Meadows Lecture Series, The Dallas Free Lecture Series, or speaking engagements at universities, conferences, and schools. I look forward to connecting with you.

Beverly Hills, California therapist: Allen Shamon, licensed clinical social worker
Biopsychosocial

Allen Shamon

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW
I specialize in working with individuals and couples who feel stuck in cycles of disconnection, conflict or emotional distance and are unsure how to repair the bond they once had. Many of the individuals and couples I work with, including LGBTQ+ partners, are navigating betrayal, trauma, attachment injuries, or long standing relational patterns that feel overwhelming or exhausting. I also support individuals whose relationship distress is impacting their mental health, sense of self, or ability to feel secure and connected. My clients are often seeking a deeper sense of emotional safety and connection, and are ready to do the work it takes to heal. I am an experienced couples therapist who has spent several years working almost exclusively with couples, including LGBTQ+ couples and individuals. I am trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), an evidence-based approach that helps partners understand their attachment needs, identify and break negative cycles, and rebuild emotional connection. Reaching out for couples or individual therapy can feel vulnerable, especially when things feel tense or uncertain. You don’t have to have all the answers before starting. If you are motivated to better understand your relationship patterns and willing to do the work, therapy can be a powerful place to slow down, reconnect, and create meaningful change together.
