I provide therapy for women navigating the complex challenges that can arise across life stages, relationships, and personal identity. I approach these issues from a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and relational perspective, honoring the ways that women’s experiences are shaped by both personal and systemic factors. In therapy, we focus on exploring your unique experiences, strengthening self-trust, building resilience, and cultivating agency. Sessions are collaborative, empowering, and designed to help you navigate life transitions, heal from past trauma, and create a sense of balance and authenticity that aligns with your values and goals.

Denver, Colorado therapist: Dr. Elizabeth Coldren, psychologist
Women's Issues

Dr. Elizabeth Coldren

Psychologist, PSYD, PSYPACT
I work with women who are carrying a lot in their inner and relational lives, often alongside demanding careers. Many are navigating dating, long‑term partnerships, or separation; complex family dynamics; and the expectations placed on them at work and at home. You may be trying to sort out what you want in relationships, noticing patterns you don’t want to keep repeating, or feeling the strain of ongoing stress and conflict. Some women I work with are also living with ADHD and want support in how it affects their daily life, work, and relationships. I also see a smaller number of women who are parenting and facing similar questions in the context of family life. In our work together, we make room for your experience, not just your responsibilities. We look at how expectations, gendered roles, stress, and relationship dynamics are affecting your mood, body, and sense of self, and we explore ways of relating to yourself and others that feel more sustainable and truthful for you. This is a confidential space where you do not have to hold it all together, and where your needs and limits are allowed to matter.

Therapy for women's problems, also called women's counseling or female-focused treatment, is a specialized form of counseling that focuses on the unique challenges, experiences, and worries that women may face. It provides women a secure and supportive environment to investigate their emotions, navigate life transitions, and address personal and interpersonal issues. The therapy for women's issues is sensitive to women's unique experiences and social contexts. The therapeutic approach will be tailored to the individual's requirements and objectives. It is essential to find a therapist who understands and respects women's experiences and is adept at addressing women's issues. New York City, New York therapist: Chrissie Chua- Ly van manh, counselor/therapist
Women's Issues

Chrissie Chua- Ly van manh

Counselor/Therapist, LMHC-D, LPC
A large portion of my practice is made up of women navigating different stages of life- from young adulthood and career-building years to partnership, motherhood, and beyond. Across these stages, many women I work with are carrying what is often described as an “invisible load"- the emotional, mental, and relational labor of managing not only their own lives, but also the needs, expectations, and wellbeing of others. Many of my clients are high-achieving and deeply responsible, yet feel the pressure of constantly having to hold everything together while also meeting often unrealistic societal expectations. This can include navigating gender-based pressures, inequality in relationships or workplaces, caregiving demands, and the ongoing tension between personal needs and external responsibilities. In our work together, we also explore how men and women are often socialized differently, which can shape communication styles, emotional expression, conflict patterns, and expectations within relationships. When helpful, we look at how these differences may contribute to misunderstandings or tension in relationships with partners, friends, or colleagues, and we work on ways to communicate more clearly, assertively, and effectively across these dynamics. We also examine internalized expectations, perfectionism, self-sacrifice patterns, and the impact of broader societal and cultural pressures on identity and self-worth. Over time, therapy can help create more space for self-advocacy, boundaries, rest, and authenticity. My goal is to support women in feeling more seen, supported, and empowered in their lives- helping them reconnect with their own needs and voice while navigating the complexity of the roles they hold.

Licensed Mental Health Counselor, MA, LMHC
“It is literally impossible to be a woman… We have to always be extraordinary, but somehow we’re always doing it wrong. You have to be thin, but not too thin. And you can never say you want to be thin. You have to say you want to be healthy, but also you have to be thin. You have to have money, but you can’t ask for money because that’s crass. You have to be a boss, but you can’t be mean. You have to lead, but you can’t squash other people’s ideas. You’re supposed to love being a mother, but don’t talk about your kids all the damn time. You have to be a career woman, but also always be looking out for other people. You have to answer for men’s bad behavior, which is insane, but if you point that out, you’re accused of complaining. You’re supposed to stay pretty for men, but not so pretty that you tempt them too much or that you threaten other women because you’re supposed to be a part of the sisterhood. But always stand out and always be grateful. But never forget that the system is rigged. So find a way to acknowledge that but also always be grateful. You have to never get old, never be rude, never show off, never be selfish, never fall down, never fail, never show fear, never get out of line. It’s too hard! It’s too contradictory and nobody gives you a medal or says thank you! And it turns out in fact that not only are you doing everything wrong, but also everything is your fault.” There's a reason that this speech from the Barbie movie hit so many women so hard -we don't often get to see our struggle so loudly expressed in such a big way. Being a woman does feel so impossible sometimes, and yet, women still have to figure it out somehow. The first step is believing that you are important enough to put yourself on your own priority list, and not be an afterthought. In my work, I help women explore who they have been, who they are today, and who they might want to be eventually. I help women identify what, or who, is standing in their way, and make changes in their lives to navigate these obstacles. Sometimes we can change things, and sometimes we can only change the way we react to them. Either way, women are more capable than they believe, and I love helping my clients learn just what they are capable of when they start to dismantle the outdated and unhelpful thoughts, beliefs and behaviors that keep them from feeling better.
