Whitby, Ontario therapist: Justin Mulder, registered psychotherapist
Men's Issues

Justin Mulder

Registered Psychotherapist, M.A., Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Many men move through life carrying a lot without having many places to talk about it. Pressure around work, relationships, expectations of strength, or feeling like you have to handle everything on your own can build up over time. In therapy, we focus on cutting through the noise and getting honest about what’s actually going on, such as stress, anger, isolation, self-doubt, or feeling stuck. My approach is straightforward and practical. We look at how you think, how you respond under pressure, and what might help you handle things more effectively without losing yourself in the process. The goal isn’t to overanalyze every feeling, but to help you understand yourself better and move through life with more clarity and steadiness.

Chris Pankewich, Registered Psychotherapist – Toronto Therapy for Anxiety, Addiction, Relationships & Men’s Emotional Resilience

Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Psychotherapist (RP), Masters of Counselling Psychology (MACP)
Working with men is core to my work as a counsellor and therapist. Issues and areas of focus in men's therapy can be diverse but there are typically some common threads: our role as providers and perceived career success, how we are measuring up as partners in relationships, our ability to attract the right type of partner in the first place, our ability to perform, our ability to receive respect and admiration from our peers. Our ability to be the types of fathers, brothers, sons and friends that we admire. We can be competitive, passionate, thoughtful and at other times we can feel lost, confused, vulnerable and set in our ways. We can struggle with effective communication, addictive tendencies and losing control of our anger. One of the most rewarding things I experience as a therapist is when I connect with men who really embrace therapy as a space to be with themselves and embrace therapy as a personal journey. Schedule a free consultation with me to see if we are a good fit.

Ottawa, Ontario therapist: Tangled Minds Psychotherapy, registered psychotherapist
Men's Issues

Tangled Minds Psychotherapy

Registered Psychotherapist, MA, RP, RCC
It can feel like a bewildering time to be a man the last few years. Whether it's intense career pressure in a shaky economy, trying to figure out how to be a good father and a breadwinner, struggling with addictions like pornography, or figuring out how to do this 'expressing you're emotions' thing men are always being told to do, it can feel impossible. Behavioural therapy offers a clear path forward. Analyze the problem - understand it's root, and map out the mechanisms from trigger points to emotions to thoughts and to actions. Find intervention points, and create clear, do-able, trackable practices. This can be things like challenging our thoughts, creating new stories about ourselves, breathing exercises, or lifestyle changes. Make clear, concrete goals for change, and if we don't hit the mark, figure out why, and keep trying. Yes - it would be easiest if you could do this all yourself. If that was possible, you wouldn't be reading this. My role as a therapist is to keep you accountable, provide clear guidance coming from years of experience helping men reach their goals, and to - when needed - challenge your thinking and actions in a way that friends and family can't. We start with a free 15 minute consult to make sure it would be a good fit, go over the problem, ask questions, and review of a brief treatment plan. Therapy is a big commitment. It's worth it.

Society is full of ideas of what a man "should" be. This is what often stops men from seeking treatment. Statements like "man up" get tossed around all the time, and then when people can't anymore they start to wonder what is wrong with them. These are the questions we help men deal with every day in therapy. We will work with you where you are at. You don't need to sit and cry and talk about your childhood (unless that is what you want to do!) We always suggest trying it out. Therapy is hard work but we have yet to meet a client who has done the work and hasn't found it helpful.

Men's Issues

Ryan Bittinger

Pre-Licensed Professional, Registered Psychotherapist (Q), DPsychotherapy, LPCC, CAS
Men face unique pressures and mixed messages in modern society. Many men are still raised in traditional masculinity, pressuring them into stoic performances of excellence and strength. Men's experiences are so much more than that - men feel loss, pain, rejection. Men desire to be kind, caring, and affectionate with their loved ones. Working with me on men's issues will allow you to take new perspectives of what you want being a man to mean to you - this can be unique to each and every man, and I strive to create a narrative with you that is empowering and allows you to be the best man you can.

Men often face unique pressures and expectations in society, which can impact their mental health and emotional well-being. Solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) helps men build emotional resilience, improve communication skills, and develop strategies for managing stress and personal growth. Therapy offers support in overcoming obstacles such as imposter syndrome, work-life balance, and mental health struggles, empowering men to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. Sometimes we just need a space to talk about what it's like to live as a Man in a culture that places a significant number of obligations and expectations on us. We live under the weight of masculinity - performative, toxic, or otherwise - and having a space to unpack some of what we carry is vital to being able to become the Men we want to be.

Have you been taught that being 'strong' means not showing feelings of sadness, fear, vulnerability, or confusion? Do you often suffer in silence? Do you struggle to manage feelings or behaviours that are getting in the way of feeling good, of taking care of your health, or of connecting to loved ones? Men’s mental health challenges often go undetected. Men are less likely than women to reach out for mental health support, are more likely to die by suicide, and are less likely to benefit from early intervention. If you are struggling with feelings, behaviours, or thoughts that are hard to talk about, call us today and experience the relief of sharing your burdens with someone who is trained to help, not to judge.
