My Story
My name is Valerie and I am a Registered Member of CMA and have extensive experience in counselling. I had firsthand experience in domestic violence which resulted in major trust and insecurity issues. Having embarked upon counselling, I have worked through past issues which have benefited me immensely. This is one of my main reasons to take the career path as a registered counsellor so that I can assist others who have been through trauma and abuse. I believe change is possible and have made it my life purpose to now assist others in discovering their authentic self whilst overcoming past, present and future challenges. I understand the effect of various traumas and the impact it can have on individual daily functioning, personal development as well as social and family interactions. I can offer you a safe place, time and non-judgmental environment to explore whatever the issue may be leading, to a more positive and fulfilling life. As an individual who knows that life can sometimes let you down, I am open minded, caring non-judgmental, empathic, warm hearted, honest and polite. The main Counselling Approach I use is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Person Centred Therapy. I also work as a Integrative counsellor. I am a firm believer in these therapies to help to improve your life to move forward in a positive way.
