Depression doesn’t always look like sadness. Sometimes it shows up as numbness, irritability, or a heavy, persistent exhaustion that makes everyday life feel harder than it should. The ways you once coped may stop working, and it can become difficult to find motivation, direction, or a sense of who you are. I work with men and women who want to move beyond survival mode and reconnect with a more grounded, compassionate relationship with themselves. Drawing on attachment and psychodynamic-informed approaches alongside Compassion-Focused Therapy, ACT, and DBT, we’ll explore what’s underneath the heaviness and build steady ways to care for yourself as things begin to shift.

Mindful Connections Therapy

Registered Psychotherapist
Depression is more than sadness. It's the heaviness that makes small tasks feel impossible, the numbness that drains colour from things you used to love, the inner voice insisting nothing will change. But depression tells a convincing story, not a true one. You'll find a warm, nonjudgmental space here to be honest about how hard things are without being rushed toward silver linings, and to gently rebuild from where you actually are. The goal isn't just to manage symptoms, it's to genuinely understand what's underneath them, replace what's depleting you with habits that nourish you, and reconnect with what brings you meaning. Together we'll work toward feeling more present, more hopeful, and more like yourself again.

Since I am not a licensed therapist, I'm not allowed to diagnose conditions such as Depression. This is a term that is often thrown around quite readily and clients often state they suffer from depression, whether or not they have been formally diagnosed by a therapist in the past. Generally, it is a rather broad diagnosis covering a wide range of behaviors. For hypnotists, many of these behaviors are simply a negative habit of mind that we can change, neutralizing many of the past traumas that have led to their problems. I have worked with many such clients, however. In many cases my clients have been in therapy for years, even decades, and while they understood the roots of their feelings, they got no relief. One of my earliest clients was a woman who suffered tremendous emotional abuse as a child and grew up with a crushing feeling of worthlessness. She became grossly overweight and worked at menial jobs her whole life, unable to form any successful and satisfying relationships. Through hypnosis, she was able to lose 170 pounds and after one session focused on her past trauma, she was so lightened of her lifelong burden of self loathing that she practically floated out of my office and she insisted on paying me double my fee. She has been free of her burdens now for 5 years and comes in once a year for a refresher session. I have had many such results in my practice.
