This is a major part of working with survivors of sexual trauma and CPTSD, as well as other trauma based conditions. Sometimes people wont remember they have experienced trauma or grief consciously, but the distress will linger as a reminder to look deeper and offer care. In IFS and TIST there is a parts approach. From attachment and neurobiology based care there are other approaches.
