Consulting from a private practice in Fulham and Chelsea in London, I employ a combination of mindfulness-based interventions and psychotherapy as a gateway to change, encouraging clients how to come into relationship with their own thoughts, feelings and habitual behaviours rather than wrestle with them. This creates the conditions for emotional wisdom, growth and wellbeing.

A warm welcome. I work with people from all backgrounds, across cultures and religions. The people I’ve met over the last three decades have influenced my way of working at least as much as my studies at university, in mystery schools and with alternative healing. I empower my clients to help themselves with practical wisdom for embodiment, so that transformation becomes a lasting, self-conducted process in daily life. Supporting inner stability and healthy navigation in this crazy world is as important to me as reflecting the truth of your spiritual being. I am known for good intuition, deep empathy and humour. My orientation in guiding you is through listening, listening to you and into the field of your life's situation. I will not fix you, simply because you do not need fixing. I will rather connect you with the possibilities of self-leadership and healing that are already in you. I discovered that healing follows facing and embracing what's in the depth of the inner shadow consciousness. Right from there, transformation happens from the darkness into the light, not by putting a pretend gloss over the dark spots. All the tools I use are in service of discovering, befriending and being exactly how you are. I invite you to embrace life as you are. Contact me risk free, I offer up to 25 mins free intake (video) call.

New York City, New York therapist: Dr. Stéphanie Gamache, PhD, hypnotherapist
Contemplative Psychotherapy

Dr. Stéphanie Gamache, PhD

Hypnotherapist, PhD
Something in you knows that what you're carrying runs deeper than the presenting problem. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and outwardly composed-yet internally they live with anxiety, depression, chronic tension or pain, relentless self-criticism, or a sense that something essential is blocked, muted, or just out of reach. These struggles may surface in mood, in the body, in behavior, or in relationships-including sexuality and intimacy-but they are rarely contained to any one area. They tend to reflect deeper emotional and relational patterns formed early in life, often before language, that continue to shape how a person approaches closeness, vulnerability, agency, pleasure, and self-expression. My work centers on how early experience shapes the capacity for self-regulation, desire, connection, and meaning throughout life-and particularly on how people come to know what they need and want, how they learn to express or inhibit those impulses, and what happens when these capacities become conflicted, constricted, or difficult to sustain. I integrate psychoanalytic hypnotherapy, somatic awareness, and clinical sexology within a reflective, depth-oriented process. Hypnosis functions as a central clinical tool-creating conditions for deeper internal contact with emotional, bodily, and unconscious experience that can be difficult to reach through conversation alone. The aim is not only relief from symptoms, but the development of a more coherent and compassionate relationship with one's inner life: sensations, emotions, impulses, and desires. This work is oriented toward lasting psychological change-and toward greater freedom in how one relates to oneself, one's body, and one's capacity for connection, authenticity, and vitality. It is best suited to those ready to move beyond symptom management toward something more fundamental.

Preston is Lancashire's county town and a city shaped by its industrial past — once a major cotton manufacturing center — that has evolved into a hub for public services, healthcare, and the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), one of the UK's largest universities. UCLan's significant student population generates consistent mental health demand and clinical training pipelines, and the Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides public mental health services. Preston's large South Asian and Eastern European communities — including one of the UK's largest Gujarati communities — drive sustained demand for culturally competent and multilingual therapists. The city's working-class character and post-industrial economic challenges mean therapists frequently address depression, economic stress, and intergenerational family dynamics alongside student and professional concerns.
