Gordon Wax BA HONS MBACP

Counsellor/Therapist, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist
Hi, my name is Gordon. Welcome! I’m am a fully qualified psychotherapist, working both online and in person from my private consulting room in Manchester England. I was born and raised in London. Personal therapy helped me to untangle my relationship with myself and my emotions from others. The world alone is a chaotic place to manage our own unknowns, anxieties, and traumas. I understand that everyone experiences the world in different ways, so unique problems require bespoke responses. Our lives are constantly creating new beginnings, change, and endings, so it’s natural to feel emotions strongly, think differently and respond atypically. I help clients explore all spheres of their life to help them build hope and to cope.

People are often more complex than the diagnoses, labels, or presenting problems that bring them to therapy. While words like anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or low self-esteem may describe part of your experience, they rarely tell the whole story of who you are, what you have been through, or what your struggles mean to you. People come to therapy for many different reasons. Some arrive with a clear understanding of what they're struggling with, while others find it harder to put their experience into words. You may be navigating relationship difficulties, a major life transition, questions around identity, overwhelming emotions, or simply a sense that something doesn't feel quite right. My approach focuses on understanding you as a person rather than as a problem to be solved. Together, we can explore your experiences, emotions, relationships, and patterns with curiosity and compassion, developing a deeper understanding of what may be contributing to your difficulties. Alongside this exploration, I also believe that insight alone is often not enough. While understanding ourselves can be a powerful starting point, meaningful and lasting change often involves finding new ways of relating to ourselves, navigating emotions, communicating our needs, setting boundaries, and responding differently to the challenges we face. My aim is to support both understanding and change, helping you build a more compassionate relationship with yourself and move towards a life that feels more authentic, connected, and fulfilling.

Therapist, Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) – PACFA Reg. Clinical 26570
Holding a grounded stance of compassion, empathy, non-judgment and light-hearted curiosity, I provide a safe and reflective space for clients to explore and gently unpack their lives. While clients may initially seek support for concerns such as anger, anxiety, compulsive sexual behaviours, relationship difficulties, or other presenting issues, my experience has shown that the underlying dynamics are often more complex than they first appear. My therapeutic ethos is centred on not viewing clients as problems to be fixed, but as individuals whose struggles deserve to be witnessed with respect, depth and thoughtful exploration. I work collaboratively, supporting clients to develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience and clarity about how they wish to live. I am of South Asian heritage, raised in London, and have lived in Sydney for over 30 years. Having straddled Eastern and Western cultures, including the particular nuances of my Indian background, I bring a culturally informed and integrative perspective to my practice. My earlier corporate career and lived experience of family life in Australia, alongside my own encounters with anxiety, stress and periods of low mood, have deepened my understanding of the pressures many clients face. My personal journey toward greater meaning, purpose and self-understanding informs my belief in psychotherapy as a transformative process. I am committed to supporting clients in cultivating insight, living more consciously, and moving toward lives that feel authentic and self-directed. If this approach resonates with you, I welcome the opportunity to connect.

Empowered Wellbeing, Decolonizing Intersectional and Integrative Complex Trauma & Dissociation Recovery Support

Life Coach, view my credentials online at: www.recoveringfromwithin.com/credentialslongform
We started our practice supporting Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse to recover from the effects of their abuse and complex grief, and continue to center that care. Our practice includes support for trauma, complex trauma, dissociation, associated and co-occurring health and chronic health needs, anxiety, depression, addiction, personality disorders. We also offer integrative mental health care for mold toxin and some other environmental toxin exposure, and some TBI and PCS symptoms, as well as support for folks with chronic health related mental health needs that intersect with the above traumas. We offer intersectional care that is decolonizing, supports those impacted by systemic abuse, and supports affirming neurodiversity. We integrate TIST-- Trauma Informed Stabilization Therapy, DBR -- Deep Brain Reorienting to recover from Shock, IFS-- Internal Family Systems Work, PVT-- Polyvagal Theory, AT -- Attachment Theory, Nonviolent Communication, Inner Child Work, IPNB -- Interpersonal Neurobiology, Bonnie Badenoch's IPNB and dyad work, Memory Reconsolidation, Coherence/Existential Level of Care, BrainSpotting, DARE Attachment Model, CranioSacral (for mind, gut, and acute trauma recovery), Mediation/Relational/Partners/Couples Support, Functional Mental Health Care via Psychiatry Redefined Training and BioIndividual Nutrition, Integrative and CAM Health Care (herbalism, homeopathy, remote Traditional Chinese Medicine and other CAM Care), Student-Directed Learning Pedagogies (from Education), compassionate Parenting and inner Re-parenting, ... and a strong Intersectional and Social Justice Framework to support clients to recover from the debilitating effects of traumas and myriad effects of traumas, facilitate clients being centered in their own sense of self, develop healthier boundaries, cultivate self awareness (mindfulness), understand and parse power structures for healthy discernment ... and move towards more fulfilling self actualization that is compassionate, inclusive and also eco-relationally congruent. We are a POC/GM Practice with a decolonizing orientation and Intersectional framework. Red lines are red lines -- we don't support abuses of power systemically and culturally. We are supportive of indigenous peoples and other systemically marginalized peoples, and their rights to safety, parity, sovereignty and dignity. If you are interested in support, we'd love to work with you! Our focus has been on supporting adult survivors of childhood sexual trauma and torture, folks recovering from narcissistic trauma, folks recovering from oppressive hegemonic systemic trauma and/or folks recovering from these traumas along with recovering from toxic mold exposure. We do work with individuals with other needs who are active and engaged bystanders and activists advocating alongside the most systemically oppressed for systemic change for the greater good of the whole global community, prioritizing care for the most marginalized. We also support those who are actively stopping and recovering from committing moral injury and boundary transgressions and willingly doing the work to repair and become bystanders with their privilege rather than violent enactors. This is a no mass media and state propaganda zone. If you are interested in support, please ask! We'd love to work with you. Exeter, England therapist: Sudeva Hawkes, registered psychotherapist

Sudeva Hawkes

Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Clinical Counsellor, B.Couns., MNCPS Accred. , PACFA Reg.
I work with people from every walk of life, from successful business managers to struggling students, helping them to navigate stress, anxiety, and life’s many challenges. My approach is friendly, humorous and empathetic. Online I see clients from all over the world- especially Australia, the UK and Ireland. I have developed my therapeutic style and skills over many years. I am especially well versed in shock and developmental trauma, relationship and family therapy, workplace stress and anxiety . My trauma work is based on releasing painful held memories through Somatic Experiencing. The good news is that you don't have to delve into old wounds or relive past events. Trauma is held in the body and it is through the body that it can be released. My wife Adima is also available for spiritual therapy and as a Gene Keys Guide and can be contacted through our website. The trust clients have displayed in me over the years has deepened my compassion and my insight and I am easy to connect with face to face or online. My aim is to present you with the tools you need to heal the things that trouble you and to connect more deeply within yourself; also to grow and develop an intimate, conscious and nourishing connection with the world around you. People often tell me they can never switch off the internal chatter and noise in their minds. That's a disturbance you don't have to live with. We can open the space for peace, simplicity and the freedom to relax when you need to. My way of working is singular, joining as it does clinical experience and the healing of trauma with meditation and mindfulness. I combine them to give my clients something special, the opportunity to find their own sense of direction in the company of a supportive ally, eliminating that which is old and no longer relevant while developing new strengths. My wish is to serve and support you in your authentic flowering, rather than to 'fix' you according to the expectations of conventional therapy. I appreciate connecting with people from every kind of background. I grew up in London and have travelled to many places in Europe, India and Asia. Until recently, I lived and worked in Australia and now I have returned to create a home and a practice in Devon the UK. In addition to Somatic Experiencing, I am inspired and fascinated by Internal Family Systems therapy and have recently embarked on a study of the Gene Keys. I look forward to working with you.
