When navigating the "deep end" of Depression, we use somatic focusing to find the small, flickering pilot light of your own testimony. As a clinician who understands the weight of systemic harm, I don't just "fix" your mood; I partner with you to witness the history that brought you here. Together, we move toward a reclamation of hope that is grounded in reality, not platitudes.

Depression is highly treatable, with many of the techniques from therapies like CBT or IFS. Simply talking and processing depression makes it start to heal. Sometimes your depression may be situational instead of biological. Each persons depression is different, requiring a differing approach.

Feeling down or sad from time to time can be normal, however when you feel numb, drained, hopeless, and have difficulty finding enjoyment in life, that can indicate a more serious problem. Depression can interfere with your ability to think, eat, work, play, and sleep. It can feel draining and isolating, but please know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE! You don't have to deal with depression alone. My role is to help you understand what you are experiencing and find your inner strengths to cope with your symptoms and return to normal functioning. The term "Depression" isn't just a medical term having to do with lack of adequate Seratonin in the brain. Did you know that there are actually more Seratonin receptors in our digestive tract than in our brains? Depression means that someone's nervous system got overloaded from being in "survival mode" for so long that it sort of shuts down or at least slows down. Depression really means "depleted and defeated" and doesn't just happen overnight. Treating Depression without medication is possible in mild to moderate cases and I strongly encourage clients to try non-medication methods first. Medications are not without risk or side effects so unless a person is suicidal, I discourage use of medication. Other natural methods to treat Depression can include acupuncture (I can provide a referral), natural supplements that don't cause harm, and lifestyle changes such as increasing exercise, yoga, improving diet, getting adequate quality sleep, drinking more water, and exploring some kind of spiritual path or community. Depression symptoms can take a while to improve and will require diligent effort on the part of the client but it really can improve!
