When navigating Anxiety or Fears, we use sandplay and bibliotherapy to externalize the internal storms that keep you stuck. As a scholar-practitioner, I help you deconstruct the carceral narratives that fuel your hyper-vigilance. We work together to find a "felt sense" of safety that allows you to breathe in a world that often feels breathless.

Elisha S Lee
Counselor/Therapist, NCCA CTCC CPC
In our dedicated anxiety and fear management counseling, we offer compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to help individuals navigate the complexities of anxiety, panic, and phobias. Recognizing that anxiety can manifest in diverse ways—from generalized anxiety to specific phobias and panic attacks—we provide a supportive and understanding environment where clients can safely confront their fears and learn practical strategies for managing anxiety.
Personalized Approaches to Anxiety Management
* Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT): A cornerstone of our approach, CBT helps individuals understand the relationship between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through CBT, clients learn to identify and challenge distorted thought patterns and beliefs contributing to anxiety, replacing them with healthier, more balanced ways of thinking.
* Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques: Incorporating mindfulness practices and relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and meditation, can significantly reduce symptoms of anxiety. These methods teach clients how to stay present and grounded, managing anxiety symptoms as they arise.
* Exposure Counseling: Gradually and safely exposing individuals to the source of their fears in a controlled setting can help diminish the power those fears hold.
* Stress Management: Learning to manage stress through time management, lifestyle changes, and healthy coping mechanisms can significantly reduce overall anxiety levels. We work with clients to identify sources of stress in their lives and develop practical solutions to address them.
* Strengths-Based Approach: Emphasizing the strengths and resources that each individual brings into therapy allows for a more empowering approach to managing anxiety. By building on these strengths, clients can foster a greater sense of confidence and resilience.
Goals of Counseling for Anxiety or Fears
The ultimate goal of our counseling sessions is not merely to reduce symptoms but to enhance overall well-being and quality of life. Through counseling, clients can achieve:
* Increased Coping Skills: Gain a toolkit of strategies to manage anxiety symptoms effectively when they arise.
* Improved Self-Understanding: A deeper insight into the triggers of anxiety and how past experiences may influence current reactions.
* Enhanced Quality of Life: With reduced anxiety, individuals can enjoy more fulfilling social interactions, better performance at work or school, and a richer, more engaging life.
If you or someone you know is struggling with anxiety or fears, let's work together to develop a comprehensive, personalized path to managing these feelings and fostering a more peaceful, satisfying life.

Stacey Hellman
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW-C
Anxiety can be debilitating and scary in and of itself. An anxious person has a disregulated nervous system which needs to be addressed. While I am not an expert on specific phobias, I do know a lot of behavioral tools and techniques that can help manage anxiety in general. In more severe cases such as panic attacks or very debilitating anxiety, medication may be helpful to improve overall quality of life and day to day functioning. I don't prescribe medication but I can coordinate care with a doctor if needed. The techniques I use to mitigate symptoms of anxiety include specific breathing techniques and other body-centered tools that we can practice in session. Anxiety doesn't respond well to the client telling themself to "just calm down." Then it is up to the client to use these tools as much as possible on a daily basis in order to get the best results possible. Just like a medication, you can't just use a breathing technique one time and expect it to keep on working the next day. The nervous system is complicated and needs consistent soothing techniques in order to become more regulated. The more you practice the tools, the better they will work and the less anxious you will feel in general. When your nervous system is regulated, you are more resilient to stressful situations and are able to "bounce back" more quickly if you do get rattled.

Anxiety can be absolutely debilitating. It's one of the many feelings that we all just want to get rid of as soon as it hits us. It can be so controlling and dictate what we do, how we feel, etc. In my work, you will learn how to not let anxiety control your life and how to experience the symptoms for a shorter duration over time.

Sarah Jacques
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSWC-C
Anxiety often shows up as constant “what if” thinking, racing thoughts, and a body that never feels at rest. It can feel like you’re always on high alert, unable to fully relax or enjoy the present moment. I help clients develop coping tools rooted in mindfulness, ACT, and DBT skills to quiet the noise, calm the body, and build confidence in handling uncertainty. Therapy provides a safe space to step out of the cycle of fear and move toward a life that feels steadier and more free.

Greta Carlson, Psy.D., ABPP
Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Psychologist
I provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety and prolonged exposure therapy for specific phobias/fears, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). CBT includes identifying and challenging specific beliefs that may be connected to anxiety and stress responses in the body, and prolonged exposure therapy includes learning and practicing skills to manage and regulate anxiety, finding ways to identify signs of anxiety in the body, and helping you overcome specific fears through gradual and careful exposure to the stimulus that brings on a fear response.
