Aysha DeSilva
Psychologist, Psy.D.
I support individuals who struggle with codependency and patterns of losing themselves in relationships. Using psychodynamic therapy, interpersonal therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and EMDR, I enjoy helping clients understand the underlying experiences that add to these patterns while building healthier relationships and a stronger sense of self.

Is most of your time spent worrying about and taking care of others? Does it feel almost impossible to share what's really on in your mind because you fear being rejected? Do you experience feelings of guilt or shame when you think about doing something just for you?
If you are ready to find freedom from the feelings of guilt and shame that are holding you hostage, counseling can help. You can learn to make yourself a priority while having relationships that are nurturing and supportive. You know that you "should" be taking better care of yourself and stop letting others take advantage of your kindness. But whenever you think about it you feel lost and overwhelmed, unsure of where to begin. Together, we will work through the feelings of guilt, shame, and fear that are keeping you from being able to honor your voice. We will work through your mental/emotional blocks so you can learn to "trust your gut" again. You will learn how to create healthy boundaries in your relationships so you can say "yes" or "no" to things with confidence.
If you are ready to finally become a priority in your life then I would love to help.

Codependency has a way of sneaking up on you. One day you realize you have been so focused on everyone else's needs, everyone else's feelings, everyone else's happiness, that you have completely lost track of your own. You pour from an empty cup and call it love. You say yes when everything in you is screaming no. You measure your worth by how much you can give, and when it is never enough, you give more.
If any of that sounds familiar, you are not alone. And there is nothing wrong with you. Codependency is often a survival strategy that made perfect sense at some point in your life. It just stopped serving you.
At CCW International, we help you gently untangle the patterns that have kept you stuck in cycles of over-giving, people-pleasing, and losing yourself in your relationships. Through compassionate, evidence-based therapy, we help you reconnect with your own needs, rebuild your sense of self, and learn what it feels like to show up for others without abandoning yourself in the process.
You are allowed to be a priority in your own life. We will help you believe that.

Sandra Lashley
Psychologist, Psy.D.
I listen closely to the ways that clients think and experience codependency in their own lives, how it shows up for them and this helps inform my thoughts about treatment and what might help. It can be a style of regularly focusing outwardly on other people, so much so that people can feel they lose themselves. The pathways to codependency can vary and can include things like being close to someone with an addiction, close to someone with an untreated mental health problem or being close to someone with a chronic personality issue. It can be connected to parenting or marriage. It can be learned from going up in certain families and often felt and was experienced as adaptive and necessary, until it no longer works. This is a common issue in my practice and I do consider it a specialty area.

In sessions, I utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to address codependency by helping clients develop healthier boundaries, improve emotional regulation, and enhance interpersonal effectiveness. Through individual and group therapy sessions, I incorporate specific DBT skills such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, and assertiveness training to empower clients to break free from codependent patterns. By fostering self-awareness and teaching adaptive coping strategies, I support clients in creating more balanced and fulfilling relationships while reducing reliance on dysfunctional dynamics.

I specialize in offering compassionate support for individuals navigating codependency issues. Codependency often stems from complex dynamics in relationships, where individuals prioritize others' needs and emotions over their own, leading to a loss of self-identity and unhealthy dependency patterns.
My approach to codependency therapy is deeply rooted in fostering self-awareness, self-compassion, and empowerment. I provide a safe and nurturing space where clients can explore the underlying factors contributing to their codependent behaviors and beliefs.
Through personalized therapy sessions, I help clients unravel dysfunctional thought patterns, set healthy boundaries, and cultivate a stronger sense of self-worth and autonomy. Using evidence-based techniques such as boundary setting exercises, inner child work, and mindfulness practices, I empower clients to break free from codependent cycles and cultivate fulfilling, balanced relationships.
I am committed to guiding clients on a journey of self-discovery and healing, where they can reclaim their sense of agency, authenticity, and emotional independence. If codependency is hindering your ability to live a fulfilling life, we're here to support you every step of the way.

Andrea Miller
Counselor/Therapist, NCC
In my practice, I integrate elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients with codependency develop mindfulness skills and cultivate self-compassion while committing to actions that align with their values and autonomy. Additionally, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques assist clients in identifying and challenging maladaptive thought patterns and behaviors associated with codependency, promoting healthier boundaries and self-esteem. Incorporating Person-Centered Therapy principles, I provide a supportive and empathetic environment for clients to explore their emotions and experiences, empowering them to reconnect with their authentic selves and build healthier relationships.

If you notice that you tend toward people-pleasing, supporting others before yourself, experience variable levels of self-esteem based on what is happening in your life and what people say to you, and setting boundaries feels really, really hard...then it is possible that you want some support around ways of showing up that are not in your best interests.

Dr. Patricia Webbink
Psychologist, MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology
I have worked with codependents for many years. John Bradshaw, a popular author and leader in this field, referred to me as a “Master Therapist.” The concept of Codependency, though not included in the Diagnostic Manual, points to relationships that have become dysfunctional with one person so enmeshed in being the Caregiver (the Giver) that they enable the other (the Taker) to constantly receive without giving support and care in return. This dynamic can occur in any kind of relationship, not just romantic. Although the role of the Giver arises out of loving kindness, there is an element of attachment to being the “Rescuer” that enables the Taker to continue their dysfunctional behaviors (e.g. substance abuse, gambling, sex addiction, abusiveness, etc.) as the Giver inadvertently shields them from the results of their dysfunctional behaviors. If this dynamic is not interrupted, the Giver eventually becomes exhausted, frustrated and burned out, in need of the support, healing, and self-awareness provided through therapy. I offer free zoom seminars, which give you a taste of how I can help with relationship issues. Please feel free to call for a consultation: 301-229-8000.
