Mary Louise Von Franz once said that “depression is a blessing.” Believe it or not if we confront our depression with curiosity, what we learn will be freeing.
Working through depression is something I have lots of experience with. The biggest thing to remember is that it takes a long time to change the way something has affected someone, so keeping in mind that it is a marathon and not a sprint helps build the foundations to overcoming the depressive symptoms.
I have been treating depression symptoms and related disorders for many years such that it is an area in which I have particular experience. You and I will examine the component parts of your symptoms such as emotions, behaviors, and thoughts. We’ll then examine how these parts are connected and how they impact each other. I’ll help you create changes to one or more of these parts to achieve your desired symptom relief.
I collaborate with clients to reduce symptoms of depression, recognize triggers, and develop effective coping mechanisms to promote a more enriching and healthy life.
Feeling down, overwhelmed, or struggling to cope with loss? I utilize evidence-based approaches like CBT, A.R.T., and EMDR to reduce depressive symptoms and help you regain control of your mood; navigate complicated grief by processing loss and finding healthy ways to move forward; and manage irritability and improve your overall well-being.
