Feeling overwhelmed in conversations, re-playing what you said in your mind after an interaction, or assuming people perceive you in a certain regard; these are some of the ways that social anxiety can show up in our lives. I have experience helping clients navigate social anxiety through identifying triggers, focusing on what is in your control, and essentially freeing yourself from the pressures you place on yourself. We can work together to create a plan to set you up for success and to instil self-confidence.
People experience anxiety in different ways and for those with social anxiety the world can feel very uncomfortable or overwhelming at times. This can cause one to isolate and withdraw from others in an effort to avoid discomfort or distress. This in turn prevents us from learning how to navigate social situations and learn to make them feel more manageable. When working with a client with social anxiety I recognize that it can be challenging just to be interacting with a new person. As anxiety often comes from feeling a lack of control, it is a priority for me to promote an environment where my client feels safe and in control. We will explore the history of their anxiety, what makes it worse as well as triggers. We will then use CBT to challenge negative or limiting thoughts and reframe them as more empowering and reassuring thoughts. We will also develop grounding and coping strategies they can use when feeling anxious. If this sounds helpful to you, please book a free consultation where I can answer questions or address concerns.

Social anxiety can unexpectedly disrupt social interactions, leading to panic attacks and overwhelming thoughts of being judged or humiliated. This can manifest through physical symptoms such as blushing, sweating or trembling. It can also lead to fear of social situations or excessive analysis of past social interactions. I offer personalized support for social anxiety using targeted treatments like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). These treatments can assist individuals in managing their social anxiety.
