Those with a narcissistic personality disorder are unwilling to admit anything is wrong in regard to how they behave, making them extremely difficult to deal with. Abusive narcissistic parents see their children merely as an extension of themselves. Although this behavior cannot be altered, safety issues can be addressed, and clients can be taught more functional means of dealing with the narcissist to avoid allowing them to interfere with their happiness.
