If you're constantly battling anxiety, repetitive intrusive thoughts and doubt, you're not alone. You may have found that pushing away distressing thoughts or urges only works for a short time. At Grounded Minds, we know how awful OCD can be. OCD is a vicious cycle that can be incredibly difficult to break out of, but we're here to help. OCD doesn't have to be something that you just get used to dealing with- we can help you learn how to manage uncertainty, reduce distress and limit compulsions. Our approach is gentle and relationship-focused. Together, we may work on taking the power away from intrusive thoughts and worries, stop compulsive rituals, or learn how to manage doubt. Our therapists offer Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the leading treatment for OCD. Let's work together to kick OCD out of the driver's seat. Having Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) can be incredibly distressing. It involves intrusive, unwanted thoughts that lead to repetitive behaviors or mental acts aimed at reducing anxiety. These compulsions provide temporary relief but create a cycle of distressing obsessing thoughts and compulsive behaviors. The constant fear of something terrible happening if rituals are not performed can be paralyzing. Despite recognizing that these obsessions and compulsions are irrational and disruptive, individuals with OCD often feel powerless to stop them. Therapy, such as Narrative Therapy (NT), is used to explore their experiences, while lifestyle changes and mindfulness techniques can help manage symptoms. Internal Family Systems may also be employed to identify and address the roots of these behaviors. Each person's journey with OCD is unique, but an integrative and evidence-based approach can lead to a significant reduction or elimination of symptoms.
