Abington, Pennsylvania therapist: HUGH R STEWART III, hypnotherapist
LGBTQ+ Issues

HUGH R STEWART III

Hypnotherapist, Ph.D., ACHt.
I myself identify as queer, bi sensual, and identify my pronouns as he/him, they, them. There is a lot of crossover in the alternative communities I frequent at workshops, retreats, festivals, and polyamory. As a result I have become quite familiar, proficient, and can identify with this group of individuals. From being educated in social justice at Sex Geek Summer Camp, Loving More and The Poly Living Conference, The International School of Temple Arts, and The Essential Experience Community and workshop, I have become very involved in the LGBQT communities. This offers me first hand experience with the issues at hand in the LGBQT Community.

I feel very passionately about providing care to those within the LGBTQIA+2. In addition to self-identifying as part of this group, I have seen firsthand the harm and discrimination that can take place within healthcare systems. As a therapist, my job is to protect my clients safety and privacy, as well as provide a supportive environment.

If you are struggling to find joy or peace in any of your important relationships, please know that help and support are available! As a relationship therapist, I am committed to creating an affirming space for LGBTQ+ individuals, couples, and families, as well as for those in non-traditional relationships. I also welcome the opportunity to work with clients who are experiencing conflict about adapting to a child or other family member's change in expressed identity, such as when a family member shares that they are gay or trans. Differences in worldview can make it difficult to adjust to learning this new information, but I am here to help you understand and find new ways to connect to your loved one.

We provide affirming, trauma-informed therapy for LGBTQ+ individuals navigating identity development, relationships, family dynamics, mental health concerns, and the impact of stigma or discrimination. We recognize that LGBTQ+ experiences are shaped not only by personal journeys, but also by social, cultural, and systemic factors that can affect safety, belonging, and well-being. Our clinicians create a space where clients can show up fully and authentically—without needing to educate, defend, or minimize their experiences. We support adolescents and adults exploring coming out, self-acceptance, gender identity, intimacy, grief, faith-related conflict, and resilience in the face of marginalization. LGBTQ+ counseling at Full Being Services is strengths-based, culturally responsive, and rooted in affirmation—supporting healing, empowerment, and wholeness across every stage of life.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania therapist: Dan Walinsky, psychologist
LGBTQ+ Issues

Dan Walinsky

Psychologist, PhD
Much of my career has focused on supporting LGBTQIA people in any number of ways. Whether you're at a point where you're considering coming out, if you're exploring your sexual or gender identity, or need space to process the important relationships in your life, this can be a great space to do some work. Many LGBTQIA people have had to make compromises in their lives to fit into social norms that don't mirror queer realities, and doing so can leave a real impact. I love to help LGBTQIA people work toward becoming more fully themselves.

LGBTQ+ Issues

Michelle Bloom, PsyD

Psychologist, PsyD, PsyPact
I believe that identity in all its manifestations is on a spectrum, not a binary, and that one of the goals for creating a meaningful life is finding and developing healthy love for self and others. Who we love, how we love, and how we define ourselves in terms of gender and sexuality and how we communicate that to ourselves and others can be a beautiful, freeing process. I wish to help my clients embrace, celebrate, and express their identity.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania therapist: Erika Barrington, licensed professional counselor
LGBTQ+ Issues

Erika Barrington

Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC, BC-DMT
I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and because of how I've felt in my own therapy over the years, it has always been a priority to me to make sure I'm offering an affirming space for this community. I spent time working as a peer counselor in my local LGBTQIA+ community center and was a supervisor there for a short time; worked as a camp counselor for trans youth; completed a year-long training program on offering trans-affirming care in therapy. I do utilize my own experience to understand what clients might be feeling and needing, but its also important to me to value the way that sexuality and gender are diverse experiences based on race, class, country of origin, culture, and so many other factors. I never assume that my experience will be just the same as someone else, and keep an eye out for the ways that my privilege might have insulated me as a queer, genderqueer person. I believe that our society's restrictive/oppressive views about sexuality and gender are impacted by patriarchy, white supremacy, and capitalism, so I hold this truth when understanding how a client may have internalized certain beliefs, and where the responsibility lies. For example, I would not ever blame a client for internalized homophobia, transphobia, but instead bring curiosity to environment, historical trends, and how we can work towards more internal liberation.
