There are many reasons for depression, external and environmental, illness or pain, biological/genetic, perspective or the inability to mentally and emotionally address hard things. Depression can be very isolating and make you feel like you are alone and different that everyone else, you are not alone! Depression isn't just sadness. It can be a reaction to an event or it can be when our system just isn't right. We need to poke at it and see what we have before we get a plan going.

Most frequently, depression feels like a cloud over your head. Sometimes this could dictates your day and sometimes it does not. Either way, I enjoy helping my clients understand the contents of the cloud to help them regain their independence and freedom.
In women, sadness tends to indicate depression, whereas, in men, anger points to it. Having family history of depression resides outside the realm of control for us. However, a personal history of depression doesn't have to translate into a future one with learning the skills to cope with it.
