We tend to think of unhealthy relationships as being between intimate partnerships. The truth is that any relationship can start out healthy and over time become unhealthy. Below are some possible signs of an unhelathy relationship
-your partner gets jealous when you talk to a friend who is viewed as a threat
-your partner or friend tells you how to dress
-you can’t trust the person and wonder what they are doing when they are not with you
-you feel scared, uncomfortable around this person
-This person does not want you to be close to others or have additional support
-your partner’s friends and interests are always more important than you
-you feel pressured by your partner to have sex with them
-this person yells at you and/or calls you names
-this person manipulates you
If you believe any of these apply to you or you see yourself as engaging in any of these behaviours towards another person, counselling can assist in helping you find new ways to cope and change patterns of behaviours.
