I enjoy getting to know people and learn about their life. Learning about where someone comes from, what they have been through, and their intersecting identities can help build a stronger foundation for understanding and trust which are essential for the therapeutic process. I am naturally inquisitive and I use this in sessions to ensure we have a plan that focuses on the core issues and goals that are important to the patient. I love to learn and find little ways to apply that knowledge in everyday life and I enjoy taking this approach in session: to focus on small steps that can be learned and implemented over time to learn more about oneself in efforts to lead a life you love.

Treatment Approach
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
- Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) An evidence-based treatment for PTSD that teaches clients to reframe unhelpful thoughts about trauma. It helps reduce guilt, shame, and fear.
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
- Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
- Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
- Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.

I enjoy getting to know patients throughly during the intake process (which is usually the first 4-6 sessions) to identify strengths, goals, and values. This includes focus on culture(s), environment, personality, stressors, and joys. We use this information throughout treatment to ensure any evidenced based treatments are geared specifically to you and your treatment needs. Treatment can vary based on presenting issues/focus and goals. Generally, once we have the goals, we will spend time in sessions discussing the topic focus for the day, practicing a skill, discussing how the skill may fit in your life or what barriers may occur, finding time to implement the skill in your every day life, and setting accountability goals for between sessions. Practice and using the skills in your daily life is an essential piece of therapy.
