Treatment Approach

  • Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Play Therapy Uses toys, games, and creative play to help children express emotions. It is especially useful when children can’t fully verbalize their feelings.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: My approach is person-centred, allowing the individual to guide the therapeutic process. We will start where you choose and will begin noticing how these patterns have appeared and are maintained through current practice. We begin by taking inventory of life and the aspects you are wanting to change most, now! There will be tangible skills to practice throughout your week and in different areas of your life.

Keegan Baulkham Practice Description
I love working with Nature. I am a trained Nature-Based Therapist and adore being outside; we learn so much from our environment and believe that immersing ourselves in Nature provides endless therapeutic benefits. I have many extended and specialized training, which are integrated into our therapy sessions, including: Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focussed Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Narrative Therapy. We will use techniques, skills, and resources from these modalities to create awareness of current reality through exploring past experiences and future worries, while navigating the biological, psychological, social, spiritual, and ecological impact these experiences have on us. We challenge thought, behaviour, and emotional cycles, connect you with what you value most, develop emotion regulation-, mindfulness-, communication-, and distress tolerance-skills, and give your experiences meaning. This, in turn, will create long lasting connections to yourself, the your inherent purpose, and those you cherish most. Ultimately, I teach skills to live a life worth living. Life is a ride that has many ups and downs, sometimes it gets really hard; that's okay. In our sessions, I will hold the space you need to reflect on life the way you need. This is for you and want you to feel as comfortable, safe, and empowered as possible as you continue along your journey.
