Hi! My name is Yuka (She/Her), and I am glad that you are here.
I am a neurodivergent Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors, a person of colour, and a third culture individual with lived experience navigating neurodivergence. I hold a Master of Counselling degree from Monash University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia with a Major in Psychology and a Minor in Law and Society. I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Counselling and Psychotherapy degree to further my education, deepen my expertise, and contribute to neurodiversity research and practice.
My personal journey, including undergoing brain surgery and navigating mental health challenges, has fueled my passion for clinical counselling and holistic well-being, encompassing both mind and body. Born in Japan, raised in Singapore, and now living in Canada, I bring a multicultural perspective that honours the intersection of culture, identity, and lived experience in every session.

Treatment Approach
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
- Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: My approach is neurodivergent-affirming, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed. I integrate approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based therapy, and person-centred therapy to provide compassionate, collaborative, and evidence-informed care.

Coverage depends on your individual plan, so we recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm whether services with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) are covered. I specialize in supporting autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD adults, as well as those navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, multicultural concerns, school or career challenges, and stress.
As an AuDHD individual, I understand the importance of feeling heard, understood, and accepted. I prioritize creating a neurodivergent affirming and inclusive space for individuals at any stage of their neurodivergent journey, whether you have received a formal diagnosis, suspect you may be neurodivergent, or are navigating life after one.
