Depression can make life feel muted - relationships grow distant, motivation fades, and the world loses color. My approach looks beyond symptoms to the emotional and relational patterns that keep you feeling stuck or alone. Together, we uncover how attachment, self-criticism, and unmet needs shape your experience of sadness and disconnection. Whether depression has followed loss, betrayal, or chronic stress, therapy offers a path back to clarity, steadiness, and genuine connection - with yourself and with those you love.

Chelsea Ellinger Center for Change
Counselor/Therapist, Social Worker
To diagnose depression, a healthcare professional will conduct a thorough diagnostic evaluation that includes a comprehensive interview to discuss your symptoms in addition to your personal, medical and family histories. Moreover, a physical examination should be performed to screen for underlying medical conditions that may mimic depression — such as hormonal imbalances, vitamin deficiencies, neurological problems and drug or alcohol use. Laboratory and imaging tests may also be included in the evaluation as part of the medical screening. The evaluating medical professional will take all of these factors into account as they formulate a diagnosis and recommend an individualized treatment plan.

Dr. John E. N. Daniel
Marriage and Family Therapist, EdD; EdS; MA; MA; LCMFT#0404011018; BCCLC#0131
Much of my practice focuses on persons suffering from depression. Clients include college age students, young and middle-aged adults as well as the elderly. I engage a number of beneficial therapy modalities including: crisis intervention, psychoeducation, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic narrative, guided imagery and critical stress debriefing. Due to the high prevalance of cooccurence specifically anxiety, sleep disturbance and depression, integrative therapy modalities are employed. Every session utilizes Carl Rogers' famous client centered model and places priority on establishing a warm, safe, empathic environment conducive to achieving favorable outcomes and restoration.

Cassandre Charnel
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Experiencing depression can feel lonely, scary, and overwhelming. Many people often hide their depression from friends, family and peers. In addition to sad mood, crying spells, periodic feelings of hopelessness, and numbness, people often notice a loss of interest in things they once enjoyed. This can lead those struggling with depression, to withdraw and isolate from others: even from those they love the most. Since everyone deals with depression differently, I provide tailored treatment modalities to address the root causes and underlying thought patterns surrounding depression based on individual need, experiences and severity. If you are reading this blurb, it means you have not given up on yourself. I am here to assist you in finding the person within worth fighting for.

Depression is not an easy feeling to just push aside and overcome quickly. We understand that with depression one may not feel motivated, may not have energy and me want to isolate and avoid. We also utilize techniques such as Ketamine assisted psychotherapy, EMDR, CBT and IFS to help people restructure unhelpful thinking, strengthen social connections, develop self compassion and create routines that support physical and emotional wellbeing.

MJB Wellness LLC
Hypnotherapist, Certified Hypnotherapist and Coach, Certified Sexological Bodyworker, Sex Educator, Certified Reiki
Since I am not a licensed therapist, I'm not allowed to diagnose conditions such as Depression. This is a term that is often thrown around quite readily and clients often state they suffer from depression, whether or not they have been formally diagnosed by a therapist in the past. Generally, it is a rather broad diagnosis covering a wide range of behaviors. For hypnotists, many of these behaviors are simply a negative habit of mind that we can change, neutralizing many of the past traumas that have led to their problems. I have worked with many such clients, however. In many cases my clients have been in therapy for years, even decades, and while they understood the roots of their feelings, they got no relief. One of my earliest clients was a woman who suffered tremendous emotional abuse as a child and grew up with a crushing feeling of worthlessness. She became grossly overweight and worked at menial jobs her whole life, unable to form any successful and satisfying relationships. Through hypnosis, she was able to lose 170 pounds and after one session focused on her past trauma, she was so lightened of her lifelong burden of self loathing that she practically floated out of my office and she insisted on paying me double my fee. She has been free of her burdens now for 5 years and comes in once a year for a refresher session. I have had many such results in my practice.

Root & Rise Clinical Specialists
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW-R
At Root & Rise, CBT is woven into our work as a foundational, evidence-based tool—not a one-size-fits-all formula. Our clinicians use CBT to help clients gain clarity around the thought patterns and behaviors that fuel anxiety and depression, while also integrating it with deeper, insight-oriented and trauma-informed approaches. We use CBT in a flexible, personalized way: identifying patterns, practicing new skills, challenging distortions, and building healthier coping strategies that support real, sustainable change. It’s one of the many modalities we blend to help clients move from awareness into action.

Michael Zamrin
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW, MSW, MA
I have extensive training and experience in helping people navigate and recover from depression. Depression is not just feeling sad—it can show up as numbness, hopelessness, irritability, exhaustion, or a sense of disconnection from yourself and others. It can affect your sleep, appetite, energy levels, and ability to function in daily life. If you're unsure whether you're experiencing clinical depression, I can help you understand what you're going through, assess the severity of your symptoms, and determine the most effective path forward.
Together, we'll explore the emotional, cognitive, and situational factors contributing to your depression. I use a range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and relational work, to address both the symptoms and root causes. My goal is to help you not only find relief, but also rediscover meaning, motivation, and a renewed sense of connection—to yourself, your relationships, and your life.

Center for Specialized Psychology
Psychologist, Psy.D., LCSW, LPC,
Depression is a common struggle among children, adolescents and adults. At CSP we believe that one condition, such as depression, will never look the exact same on two or more people. Therefore, we don't treat it the same. We take an integrative and personalized approach for every patient to ensure that the treatment they receive will work best for them. Treating depression includes understanding what the depressive symptoms are, where they come from, how to notice triggers, how to manage symptoms, and how to overcome mood shifts, through both cognitive and behavioral strategies. In addition, a psychodynamic approach is often used to explore the origin of the depression and process / heal from the underlying cause(s).

Heather Champion
Counselor/Therapist, LMHC, Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Court Mediator
Depression can be such a difficult thing to understand and to accept when we are experiencing it. We want so badly to feel better that we get angry at ourselves for the lack of motivation and fatigue that gets in the way of being as productive as we would like to be. Everyone around seems okay and few of the people around seem to understand that these barriers are not just in my head. Working through depression, accepting what it is doing and taking steps to begin to alleviate the symptoms is a hard step to take, but we can take them together.

Christina Song
Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT-S
I approach depression as a meaningful response to stress, loss, trauma, and disconnection—not a personal failure or lack of willpower. Depression often shows up when the nervous system has been overwhelmed for too long, or when people have learned to carry pain quietly. In therapy, we work to understand how depression functions in your life, what it may be communicating, and how it has helped you survive.
Our work is gentle, collaborative, and paced with care. Together, we focus on increasing support, reconnecting with a sense of agency, and rebuilding access to pleasure, rest, and meaningful connection. Rather than pushing for constant positivity or productivity, therapy becomes a space to cultivate compassion, restore energy, and create sustainable shifts that honor both your capacity and your humanity.
