Maria Gliemann | Alchemy Healing and Counseling

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW
i support clients who wish to explore spirituality as part of their healing, particularly through ancestral and cultural frameworks rooted in caribbean and latino traditions. this work may include meaning making, identity exploration, and reconnecting with practices that were disrupted or devalued through migration, colonization, or assimilation. spirituality is always client led and integrated in a grounded, respectful way that complements clinical treatment rather than replacing it. this work is especially meaningful for clients seeking culturally responsive therapy.

Psychologist, PsyD; LLC
We are of mind-body-spirit, but rarely do we truly explore the spiritual side of things. Whether you believe in a God, or not, what if we still wonder about something greater than ourselves? Are we truly humans, and this is it? Or are we souls having a human experience? Or other? I offer a safe space to explore this topic as well as all of your experiences.

Having a healthy sprit man is just as important as being healthy mentally and physically. Sometimes people find themselves being stagnant spiritually. Stagnancy can cause frustration, confusion and a feeling of a sense of bondage. Freedom can come through realizing God’s plan for your life.

Psychologist, Ph.D.
You had a good day. Work went well; you exercised; maybe even spent time with people you care about. Then you got home, noticed everything you had not done, opened your phone “for a minute,” and disappeared into comparison, research, or another plan to improve your life. By bedtime, the day no longer felt like enough. I work with thoughtful, driven folks, often ADHD or ADHD-ish, who look capable from the outside but feel restless, scattered, disconnected, or chronically behind. You may be successful and self-aware, yet exhausted from constantly trying to fix yourself. My approach is practical and collaborative, grounded in contextual behavioral science. We look beneath procrastination, distraction, burnout, and indecision to understand how these patterns developed and what keeps them going. Therapy is not another performance test. It is a place to rebuild self-trust and act from what matters—not shame, fear, or proving. I do not offer a final formula for what your life should be. I can help you slow the machinery down, recognize the rules that have been running you, and take the next honest step without abandoning yourself. If you have built a life that should feel meaningful but doesn't feel like home, contact me to see whether we're a good fit. I do not offer a final formula for what your life should be. A belief in a higher power is an essential part of being human. People from all cultures throughout human history have found meaning, solace, peace, and support from belief in a higher power. Part of the journey of being human is making a relationship with the unseen helpful spiritual powers in the universe. There are times when we all need to rely on powers greater than ourselves to help us deal with what life brings. The individuation process, as Carl Jung calls it, demands that we look beyond our ego's concerns to the larger spiritual world.

Spirituality, in it's many forms is an important part of our identities and framework from which we grapple with and understand our deepest values. Exploring values through the lens of spirituality whether that's expressed through an organized religion or the many ways we connect with our creator is an important part of my work.

I believe all paths toward Oneness carry the message and call of finding inner peace, outer harmony, and unfathomable love. As a teen, I was drawn to the passionate contemplation of the mystics, and to the presence of Godde in nature. My Catholic roots led me into progressive Protestantism, Buddhism and Universal Sufism. After earning a Master of Divinity (2014) in Berkely, CA, I worked as an interfaith chaplain for 9 years with dying adults and children. Now in private practice, I integrate scientific research on trauma, ancient and emerging spirituality, and holistic wellness. I'm currently an ordained cherag with the Sufi Ruhaniat International (since 2018). I am also a certified Sivananda yoga and Vedanta teacher (2009) and an ANFT forest therapy guide (2021). A mother, poet, and queer, I am deeply embracing a hurting world and mending the ruptures that deter us from knowing this divine love. If you are on a path of self-realization and feel blocked, I'd love to help.

I agree with Alcoholics Anonymous when it asserts that alcoholism -- and all addictions -- are spiritual disorders. The same could be said of many of the other conditions that patients bring to their therapists. Life is very big and complicated and challenging, and our little egos are scarcely equipped to negotiate all of that unaided. Larger sources of support and wisdom are essential, if one is at all oriented to that dimension. My own spiritual life is central to me personally, and is vital to my understanding my patients -- although I never suggest spiritual beliefs to patients. I believe that this is a crucially personal aspect of life, and the implicit power given to the therapist should never be used to sway vulnerable clients in any particular direction. But if a patient is at all spiritually inclined, and searching for larger meaning in life, I always stand ready to support that search wholeheartedly.

If spirituality is important to you, it can be part of the work in a respectful way, without pressure or assumptions. We are primarily interacting in this physical, material world realm but most of us know and can feel that there is more. Working with both the physical plane and also the larger picture spiritual plane helps make some of the baffling or wrong things that happen make more sense in terms of our high level intention to learn, grow, evolve and be of service. Tapping into the underlying energetic aspects can give us additional tools to work with as well.

Material things cannot fill our hearts. Entertainment can't replace relationship. Noise can't shut out pain. St. Augustine wrote, "Our hearts are restless until they rest in You, Oh God." I believe that we are each made in the image and likeness of God. In relationship to Him, everything comes into right order. This is why authentic spirituality and relationship to God brings so much healing. I am here to help you grow in this most important relationship
