Jason Herr
Psychologist, Psy.D.
I provide relationship and marriage counseling for couples and individuals seeking stronger communication, deeper understanding, and healthier connection. With extensive experience working with couples, families, and diverse clinical concerns across community mental health and private practice settings, I help partners identify patterns that create conflict or disconnection while building skills for trust, emotional intimacy, and effective problem-solving. Relationship therapy is often about learning how to clearly communicate needs, desires, and a sense of safety within the relationship so both partners can feel heard, respected, and understood. My approach is balanced, practical, and insight-oriented, supporting clients in creating more stable, respectful, and fulfilling relationships.

Psychologist, Ph.D.
Communication difficulties are often at the center of relational conflict; partners and family members may feel missed, disconnected, unheard, and misunderstood. Couples sessions are geared toward reworking the communication and interaction patterns that may have become ingrained in your partnership or family unit - to assist in rebuilding trust, connection, and cohesion. Learning about ourselves, the ways we show up in our relationships, and our response tendencies can shed important light on these patterns, the relational needs that are unmet within them, and ways to step outside of them. One of the most important first steps in our work together is to begin seeing these overarching patterns as the reasons for pain, rather than treating the pain as being the fault of an individual partner or family member.

Maria T. Alonso, Ph.D.
Psychologist
As a psychotherapist, I incorporate structural family therapy to work with couples by focusing on the underlying structures and dynamics within their relationship. This approach allows us to identify and address patterns that may be causing conflict or dissatisfaction. I help couples map out their current relational patterns, including boundaries and roles, and work together to reorganize these structures in a way that promotes healthier interactions. Through structured interventions, we explore how these dynamics impact their connection and communication. My goal is to empower couples to establish more effective and balanced ways of relating to one another, enhancing their overall relationship satisfaction and fostering a more supportive and cohesive partnership.

Alan Brandis, Ph.D.
Psychologist, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist
Having worked with hundreds of couples over the last 40 years, I have developed a set of beliefs or ideas which, if adopted, help to ensure that a relationship will last. One of the most important is: Arguing helps nothing, so don't do it.
I like to say that I never met the person who started the fight! When two people argue, each of them believes that he or she is merely reacting to something the other one did or said. Neither one believes that they started the fight; but it started somehow, didn't it?
It is better to be close than it is to be “right.”
Blaming each other for the argument is counterproductive. So is trying to change the other person's opinion. Most couples who argue, argue about whose perception is "correct," whose way of doing something is the "right" way, and so on. The only possible outcome of these arguments is that someone will be "right" and someone will be "wrong." Do you know anyone who enjoys being wrong? Most people will fight tooth and nail to avoid being "wrong."
Commitment is the Foundation of the Therapy
Commitment implies that you are in the relationship "come Hell or high water," barring certain behaviors your partner might do such as having an affair (although I have seen a number of relationships recover from those, too). Unless each partner believes that the other one is committed, they will not feel safe to take risks in facing, addressing and working out the real, underlying issues that affect the relationship.

Licensed Professional Counselor, MA, NCC, LPC
Does your relationship feel more like roommates than partners? Maybe there’s no joy, no affection—just two people living parallel lives, disconnected but telling yourselves everything is “fine.” Or maybe it’s the opposite—constant tension, high conflict, or the pain of betrayal that feels impossible to move past. You don’t have to stay stuck. I help couples rebuild trust, repair emotional wounds, and break free from the cycles that keep them feeling distant.
Couples therapy isn’t just about talking—it’s about proven, research-backed interventions tailored to your unique relationship challenges. Through a structured, three-phase approach, we work toward lasting change:
1. Assessment Phase – We start with a thorough evaluation to understand your relationship dynamics, strengths, and challenges. This includes structured interviews, questionnaires, and in-depth discussions to uncover the deeper patterns at play.
2. Intervention Phase – Using Gottman Method and Internal Family Systems (IFS), we focus on improving communication, rebuilding trust, and deepening emotional connection. You’ll gain tools to navigate conflict, express needs effectively, and strengthen intimacy.
3. Maintenance Phase – Once progress is made, we shift to reinforcing lasting change. You'll practice the skills learned in therapy to maintain connection, resilience, and continued growth in your relationship.
Every step is designed to help you break unhealthy cycles, reconnect, and build a relationship is proven to thrive.

I completed advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. EFT can benefit couples who are struggling with conflict, distress, and poor communication and help improve emotion related problems and build connection. It can also help family members form more secure bonds with one another. EFT has also proven to be a powerful approach for couples dealing with infidelity or other more traumatic incidents, both recent and past and relies on the significance of secure attachment.
