Our counsellors provide trauma-informed treatment for those suffering with PTSD and those affected by trauma. We understand how debilitating trauma and PTSD can be, robbing you of enjoyment, productivity and healthy relationships. In therapy, you will be provided with skills and strategies to manage anxiety symptoms and reduce panic attacks. Self-care, self-love and acceptance, and mindfullness-based practice are provided through educational and therapeutic modalities such as dialectical behaviour therapy and cognitive-behavioural therapy.
“Trauma is a part of life, however it doesn’t have to be a life sentence,” says trauma expert, Peter Levine. Trauma is often misunderstood to be solely about sexual abuse/assault. However, whenever we experience being overwhelmed without supportive people to help us, we have the potential of being traumatized. Ordinary life events such as a dental procedure, experiencing a fall, undergoing surgery, or even losing a tooth can be traumatizing. Counselling helps to renegotiate and resolve trauma bringing increased joy and vitality into daily life.

Providing trauma therapy is a deeply compassionate and client-centered process that prioritizes safety, trust, and empowerment. I approach trauma therapy with sensitivity and understanding, recognizing the profound impact that traumatic experiences can have on an individual's mental, emotional, and physical well-being. My goal is to create a supportive and non-judgmental space where clients feel validated and heard as they explore their trauma and work towards healing. Through evidence-based interventions, I help clients process and integrate their traumatic experiences in a way that promotes resilience and growth. I collaborate closely with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that honor their unique strengths, needs, and cultural backgrounds, empowering them to reclaim their sense of safety, agency, and vitality.
Experiencing trauma and/or living with PTSD can profoundly impact every aspect of your life, leaving you feeling overwhelmed and isolated. From a therapeutic perspective, it’s important to understand that your pain is real and your feelings are valid. Therapy offers a safe and supportive space to explore your experiences, process your emotions, and develop coping strategies. Healing from trauma is a gradual process, and therapy can guide you towards reclaiming your sense of safety and control. You deserve to feel supported and empowered on your journey toward recovery. Remember that seeking therapy is an incredibly courageous step.
There are many different ways to experience trauma and there is no one way to cope with the impact of these events. Often it can feel like a secret that you are carrying with you throughout life, trying to put away somewhere because “going there” may not feel safe. At some point the weight can become too heavy to manage on your own. Just having the courage to seek help and make yourself vulnerable to difficult memories shows a great deal of strength which I respect. One of the things that often gets lost after a traumatic event is a sense of control over our life. In our sessions I want to assure you that you are in control of where we go and what we talk about. I will follow your lead. I have done more conversational trauma counselling and am also trained in EMDR which is a more structured and goal driven therapy. Which route we choose is your call. I invite you to reach out and book a free consultation if this sounds like something that would be helpful for you.

For many of us, our stream of life is interrupted by events that are so stressful and scary that they create lasting change. This can be a single incident such as an assault or accident. Or, it could be recurring incidents that take place in the course of our work. It could also be trauma in our earliest years from our caregivers or in our first relationships. If you feel that something from your past is impacting your current life, trauma focused therapy may be a good fit for you.
