You may have spent years trying to understand why you feel, react, or relate to others in certain ways, yet still find yourself repeating the same patterns. Therapy offers an opportunity to explore what's happening beneath the surface, make sense of your experiences, and begin approaching yourself and your relationships differently. At Unravel Therapy, I offer a compassionate, collaborative space where we can move beyond simply coping and work toward deeper understanding and lasting change.

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) An evidence-based treatment for PTSD that teaches clients to reframe unhelpful thoughts about trauma. It helps reduce guilt, shame, and fear.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Experiential Therapy Involves hands-on activities to bring emotions into the present moment. It helps clients process feelings more deeply than through conversation alone.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: My therapeutic approach is integrative, relational, and tailored to each client's needs. Rather than relying on a single method, I draw from evidence based therapies to explore both the underlying experiences contributing to emotional difficulties and the patterns maintaining them. Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and attachment based approaches help us understand emotional needs, relationship dynamics, and patterns of connection and disconnection. Internal Family Systems (IFS) informs my work with protective responses, inner conflict, and the different parts of ourselves that develop through our experiences. I also integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and DBT skills when appropriate, particularly when working with anxiety, trauma, obsessive compulsive symptoms, and emotional regulation. In couples therapy, I draw from EFT and Gottman Method interventions to help partners understand recurring conflicts, strengthen emotional connection, and develop more constructive ways of relating. My goal is to balance emotional exploration with practical change, allowing therapy to be both meaningful and applicable to everyday life.

Aseel Al-Saheb Practice Description
Welcome to Unravel Therapy Unravel Therapy is a virtual psychotherapy practice offering individual and couples therapy across Ontario in English and Arabic. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). My work is grounded in the belief that meaningful change begins with understanding ourselves, not simply changing our behaviours. Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or frustrated by patterns they can't seem to break. You might recognize that certain relationships leave you feeling anxious, struggle to establish boundaries without guilt, or find yourself responding emotionally in ways you don't fully understand. Sometimes, you may know exactly what you're struggling with intellectually, yet still feel unable to change it. These experiences often have deeper roots. Together, we explore the emotional patterns, beliefs, protective responses, and past experiences that may be influencing your present life. **Individual Therapy** I support individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, self esteem difficulties, emotional regulation, relationship concerns, and life transitions. Our work focuses on developing emotional awareness, understanding recurring patterns, and building a more compassionate relationship with yourself. **Couples Therapy** Relationships can become caught in cycles of conflict, withdrawal, misunderstanding, and emotional disconnection. Drawing from Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method, I help couples recognize these patterns, understand the emotions and needs beneath them, and develop healthier ways of communicating and connecting. **What to Expect** Therapy with me is collaborative and tailored to your needs. Some sessions may involve exploring past experiences and understanding their influence on your present life, while others focus on processing emotions, working through current challenges, or developing practical strategies. You don't need to arrive with a clear explanation of what's wrong or a plan for how to fix it. We can begin wherever you are. All sessions take place virtually through a secure video platform, making psychotherapy accessible throughout Ontario. Explore . Untangle . Resolve. Website: www.unraveltherapy.com
