Approach Description: You can expect that I will prioritize creating a foundation of a relationship with you. Otherwise, my practice is mainly rooted in the lens of IFS, which is an approach for individuals despite the full name being "Internal Family Systems". This approach recognizes that the nervous system makes a lot more sense when we see our internal experiences as different "parts" of us (like a little family inside with all of the expected internal conflicts). We already use this "parts" language often to consider, for example, “a part of me wants to have a nutritious diet but another part of me wants to eat whatever I want”. It sounds like this approach would require a lot of imagination, but in reality, this approach simplifies down the complex neuropathways (including unhelpful narratives about life) which could be leading to your struggles. It also makes these neuropathways easier to access and update to the present day. What we might see as our current problems are really solutions which were used in the past at a time when these solutions (like a behaviour or belief) were needed for our protection, and in the present day, it might be time for some help with releasing these behaviours or beliefs which are no longer serving you.
