Jillian Luz (She/Her)

Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT, ATR
I work from a non-pathologizing lens and strive to support my clients in exploring what past or current traumatic experiences, including personal/specific, cultural, and systemic, may be currently impacting their self-view and functioning. I offer EMDR and IFS treatment to support processing past trauma (including chronic, relational, and childhood traumas) and grief & loss that may be causing current distress, unhappiness, relationship challenges, negative beliefs about one's self or abilities, and a lack of personal fulfillment. I also specialize in working with neurodivergent clients, especially late/adult diagnosis.

Treatment Approach

  • Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
  • Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Ketamine-Assisted Therapy Combines low doses of ketamine with psychotherapy to treat depression, trauma, and anxiety. It can provide relief when other methods haven’t worked.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: I offer a direct approach at supporting you in identifying your goals and desired outcomes from treatment. I support you in reaching those goals while encouraging you to implement strategies to enhance your day to day life functioning. I understand that therapy is an investment of your finances, time, and energy and strive to help you reach your goals effectively and efficiently.

Therapy Sessions Jillian Luz Practice Description
Trauma can be obvious, such as a car accident, the sudden death of a loved one, or being involved in a natural disaster. Other traumas are more subtle, such as emotional abuse, past bullying, or even memories from early childhood that you are unable to freely recall. If you are experiencing feelings of inadequacy, low self-worth, anxiety, depression, difficulty connecting with others and maintaining healthy relationships, you may be suffering from trauma-related symptoms. I offer EMDR and IFS (with art therapy incorporated if desired), for effective and efficient treatment to support alleviating these symptoms and helping you live a more fulfilled life.
