At Nightingale Counselling, we believe that healing is not something a therapist does to a client, but something that emerges from the quality of the relationship between them. Grounded in scientific research, counselling theory, and clinical experience, our approach helps people access their own innate capacity for change, whether they are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, or the weight of emotions that have long felt out of control. We serve individuals, couples, and families across a wide range of backgrounds, identities, and life circumstances, and we are committed to creating a space where every person who walks through our doors feels met with genuine empathy, cultural competence, and the kind of non-judgmental presence that makes honest conversation possible. Because we know that no single practitioner can serve all people, our diverse group practice exists to ensure that whoever you are and whatever you are carrying, there is someone here who is the right fit for you.

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Adlerian Therapy Focuses on understanding a person’s sense of belonging and purpose. It helps people overcome feelings of inferiority and create healthier relationships.
  • Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Drama Therapy Uses role-play, storytelling, and theater techniques to explore problems and emotions. It helps people practice new ways of relating to others.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Jungian Therapy Draws on Carl Jung’s ideas about archetypes, dreams, and the collective unconscious. It helps people explore deeper layers of meaning.
  • Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Play Therapy Uses toys, games, and creative play to help children express emotions. It is especially useful when children can’t fully verbalize their feelings.
Approach Description: Our approach is structured and practical, designed to answer a central question quickly: “Will this actually help?” We focus on identifying the specific patterns that interfere with performance, decision-making, and daily organization, then building the psychological, emotional, and behavioural skills required to change them. Unlike most private therapy, Nightingale operates as a coordinated clinical team. Your counsellor receives ongoing consultation and progress review to make sure you have a care plan that fits your life. Our approach is best suited for adults seeking meaningful progress in their lives rather than those looking for a primarily open-ended or supportive therapy.

Nightingale Counselling Practice Description
Nightingale is a coordinated private counselling clinic for adults who are no longer getting results from insight alone. We work with motivated adults who are ready to move on from stress, emotional difficulty or undiagnosed problems — especially when effort is high, but follow-through remains difficult. Many of our clients have already tried to manage things independently and are now ready for a clear, structured pathway that really translates effort into change. They are tired of stalled progress and the gap between intention and execution. Nightingale is designed specifically to solve this problem. We identify the patterns maintaining difficulty, then build the psychological and behavioural skills required to change them for good. We combine individual therapy with clinical oversight. Your counsellor is backed by a team who reviews progress, refines your care plan, and ensures the work remains active and effective — creating consistency not available in standard one-to-one therapy offices. Clients begin with a free 30-minute Discovery Session where they receive an answer for who to see and why. This step is structured, requires no preparation, and is backed by a guarantee — if the fit is not right, we cover a follow-up session so you can adjust quickly without losing momentum.
