I believe that healing is growth in the face of adversity; it is a journey of coming (back) into yourself with deep self compassion, and we all have insight into how to get there. Sometimes we just need a bit of support along the way; someone to hold (non judgemental space) and work alongside us to find solutions, develop coping strategies and build on our innate skills and wisdom so that we are more emotionally resilient to life's challenges. I look forward to holding this space for you.

Sehr Athar Practice Description
In this moment, you may be feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious or burned out by life's challenges. This might as a result of a life transition, a loss, new and changing relationships, job/career, cross-cultural dynamics that you're trying to navigate. Perhaps you need support processesing and understanding your emotional highs and lows and how they influence your behaviour and/or impact your relationships during this moment. I believe that healing is growth in the face of adversity; it is a journey of coming (back) into yourself with deep self compassion, and we all have insight into how to get there. Sometimes we just need a bit of support along the way; someone to hold (non judgemental space) and work alongside us to find solutions, develop coping strategies and build on our skills and wisdom so that we are more emotionally resilient to life's challenges. I will support you on this journey of self discovery and reflection, of greater understanding and applied learning in order to move through this difficult time and reach an optimal level of wellbeing and leave you with tools so that you are better able to cope and respond on your own. My holistic approach is based on your needs; I work with a combination of talk therapy (CBT, DBT, narrative, solution-focused, motivational interviewing), yoga/ somatic-based work as well Reiki healing. Sometimes people ask why I work with the body in counselling therapy. Understanding our bodys' physiological responses to stress (also known as our nervous systems!) can be invaluable to regulating our emotions, feeling grounded and centered and moving through difficult times in our lives. Our bodies carry so much wisdom and important messages if we tap into them. Mindfulness and yoga practices can support us to develop a language to name our experience in the body which includes, believe it or not, our emotions as well. Counselling-therapy can help us can help us understand our thoughts and behaviours. When we have a language to describe what we're sensing in the body and what we're thinking in our minds, we're many steps closer to promoting positive mental health. I would be honoured to hear from you and see how we can work together. I offer a free consultation, to ensure that my services are a good fit for you and your needs. I draw upon my experience as a cis-gendered South Asian settler/immigrant, informed by feminist, intersectional, trauma-informed and harm reduction principles and practices. I am 2SLGBTQ+ allied, empathetic, compassionate, and client-centered. I offer 4 week psycho-educational group therapy services as well.
