Ilana Grosman

Registered Psychotherapist
I have found some people can be skeptical of online therapeutic work, but from experience (as both the therapist and as the participant) I have found it to be just as potent as working in person. In some cases, depending on the person, it can even be more powerful when working from a place of comfort, like home.

Parramatta, New South Wales therapist: Shareen Birges, registered social worker
Female

Shareen Birges

Registered Social Worker, BASS, GDYMH, MSW
I specialise in eMental Health (online therapy and telehealth) & have been working primarily in the online space since 2015 (however have been practicing since 2008). The feedback I get from clients is an appreciation of the convenience & flexibility of the online space and I am passionate about the accessibility, affordability & sustainability of counselling. I have learnt how to use my "online workspace" to build rapport with clients, fostering a collaborative relationship with them and creating a safe and comfortable space for them to be open and honest with me and themselves. I have been able to do this by using my vast experience in counselling in person, and continue to offer in person counselling.

Online counselling provides people with an opportunity to talk about the issues that concern them whenever and wherever they need to. Many people have busy lives with hardly a moment to spare, and finding a time when they can visit a counsellor together may be impractical. The accessibility and convenience of online counselling also suits people from more remote locations or who have mobility issues.

Ardross Psychology Practice

Psychologist, Registered Clinical Psychologists - Dr Peter Gibbons and Adri Hunt
Adri Hunt and Dr Peter Gibbons have used online therapy for a number of years. The new Coviu and Zoom platforms provide access to virtual whiteboards as well as tools such as Powerpoint and video presentations which can be an effective way of communicating useful information. Where possible, both Adri and Peter encourage at least one face to face session but that is not a requirement. Online therapy can be interrupted at times with power outages or NBN difficulties, however it is possible to switch platforms or to reschedule the session. Both therapists make best use of the benefits of online therapy and can be creative in their use of what it has to offer by taking into account the limitations of this medium. Both therapists offer ongoing support via emails, voice messages and will email worksheets and relevant information where relevant

We are all different and can learn to celebrate our differences, but sometimes life feels like we are moving three steps forward and two steps back. This is where we can help you as needed. In the initial meeting, the counsellor will listen carefully to your concerns and assist in identifying the main issues, together we can draw up a plan for action. You will be encouraged to express your thoughts and feelings in an environment that is confidential, non-judgemental and professional.

Albury, New South Wales therapist: Karen Seinor, counselor/therapist
Female

Karen Seinor

Counsellor/Therapist, MACA
Whether it is a Counselling session, Coaching, Therapy or a Reading, working online is both convenient and effective. Many of my clients prefer it in fact. For some people it's about saving time but for most it's about comfort. A lot of people just feel more comfortable and empowered when they are in their own space, feeling freer to discuss personal matters from the privacy of their own home or office space. The work is just as effective so Im always happy to work with clients online.
