CPT helps people recognize how trauma has changed their view about themselves, others, and the world. CPT teaches people to recognize the negative thoughts that are created by the trauma. These thoughts are called "stuck points" in CPT because they keep people stuck and get in the way of recovery from PTSD (from the National Center for PTSD (.gov))

Trauma can leave deep emotional scars, affecting how we see ourselves, others, and the world around us. Whether it’s the impact of past abuse, a difficult childhood, or a life-changing event, unresolved trauma can shape your thoughts, behaviors, and relationships in ways that feel hard to overcome. In our work together, I’ll provide a safe, supportive space to explore and heal from your past experiences. Through trauma-informed techniques, we’ll address the emotional and physical effects of trauma, helping you process, release, and rebuild. My goal is to empower you to reclaim your strength, build healthier coping strategies, and move toward a life of healing, peace, and resilience. You don’t have to carry the weight of trauma alone—healing is possible, and you deserve to feel whole again.

Margaret Graham
Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC, LCPC, LPCC
My work with trauma and PTSD clients focuses on developing safe, paced strategies for processing difficult experiences that continue to impact your present life. Through evidence-based approaches including EMDR, clinical hypnosis, and somatic techniques, we address key areas including hypervigilance, emotional flashbacks, relational patterns rooted in past wounds, and nervous system dysregulation. I help clients build resources and resilience before processing traumatic memories, develop tools for managing triggers and overwhelming emotions in daily life, understand how past experiences shaped current beliefs and behaviors, and create new neural pathways that support healing and integration. My approach acknowledges that trauma work requires moving at your pace while providing a framework that allows you to process what happened without being retraumatized in the telling.

Mia Turner
Therapist, MA, RYT, ASDCS, LMFT, NPT-C, CMNCS, CMIP
Specialized support for trauma, complex trauma (C-PTSD), developmental trauma, attachment trauma, racial trauma, medical trauma, religious trauma, identity-based trauma, intergenerational trauma, and the impacts of systemic oppression, marginalization, and chronic invalidation. This work is particularly attuned to the experiences of neurodivergent, disabled, chronically ill, LGBTQIA2S+, BIPOC, multicultural, and other multiply marginalized individuals whose trauma often exists at the intersection of personal experiences and larger social systems.
My approach integrates EMDR, somatic therapy, polyvagal-informed practices, mindfulness, parts work, expressive arts, neuropsychotherapy, attachment-focused work, and liberation-oriented healing. Rather than asking what is wrong with you, we explore what happened to you, what happened around you, what happened within you, and the ways your nervous system, body, relationships, and sense of self adapted in order to survive.
Trauma often lives far beyond conscious memory. It is carried in the nervous system, muscles, breath, sensory experiences, patterns of tension, hypervigilance, perfectionism, people-pleasing, over-functioning, shutdown, dissociation, emotional overwhelm, chronic self-monitoring, difficulty resting, difficulty trusting, or a persistent feeling of being disconnected from yourself, your body, or your needs. Many of these responses reflect the intelligence of a system that learned how to survive under difficult circumstances rather than evidence that something is wrong with you.
This work invites a deeper understanding of the body's role in both survival and healing. Through attention to sensation, emotion, movement, breath, imagery, nervous system states, and the wisdom held by different parts of self, space is created for greater regulation, flexibility, self-compassion, and choice. Healing is not approached as fixing, erasing, or becoming someone different, but as gently reconnecting with the parts of yourself that may have been hidden beneath protection, adaptation, or survival.
As a multiply marginalized clinician whose work is informed by both professional expertise and lived understanding of trauma, culture, gender, neurodivergence, disability, chronic illness, and systemic oppression, I recognize that healing is rarely about symptom reduction alone. It is often about reclaiming connection to your body, your voice, your needs, your culture, your values, your relationships, your joy, your interests, your communities, and your capacity to move through life with greater authenticity, agency, and self-trust. The goal is not to return to who you were before trauma, but connecting with safe-enough states and reclaiming connection to self, community, embodiment, joy, agency, and the parts of you that existed long before survival became necessary.

Trauma is what happens when we experience something that is overwhelming or life-threatening. Sexual or physical abuse, neglect, accidents, natural disasters, crime, loss of loved ones... All of these things can leave a mark. Our brain responds to trauma the way it has for thousands and thousands of years. And while that helped us survive in more primitive times, today it can leave us unable to function, riddled with fear and anxiety, avoiding the very things that used to bring us pleasure. At its worse, trauma becomes Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. The good news is that the field of psychology, through the use of brain imaging, has developed powerful treatment approaches to the resolution of trauma and PTSD. The field of Somatic Psychology has been a hotbed for the development of effective treatments including EMDR, Brainspotting, Somatic Experiencing, and Sensori-Motor Psychotherapy. With 25 years of experience, training in many of these approaches, and both an MA and Ph.D. in Somatic Psychology, I am eager to help you recover from the devastating impact of trauma.

Trauma & PTSD: Trauma can continue to affect your life long after the event has passed. You may struggle with anxiety, hypervigilance, emotional numbness, relationship difficulties, intrusive memories, trust issues, or a persistent feeling that you’re never truly safe.
Using a trauma-informed approach, I help clients process difficult experiences, understand their nervous system responses, and develop tools for healing and recovery. Together, we’ll work at a pace that feels safe while building greater emotional regulation, resilience, and self-compassion.
Healing from trauma is not about forgetting what happened. It’s about reclaiming your sense of safety, power, and ability to fully participate in your life.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW
Traumatic events are, sadly, common. What determines whether someone develops PTSD often has less to do with the event itself and more to do with what happens afterward—especially whether they had support or were left alone in the aftermath. One of the most powerful elements of trauma therapy is breaking that original aloneness: having another person bear witness in a safer, regulated way.
Trauma lives in the body and nervous system. Many parents who are deeply committed to ending cycles of violence are shocked to find themselves reacting in ways they swore they never would. Under stress or overstimulation, unprocessed trauma stored in the nervous system can resurface, driving reactions that feel out of character and hard to control.
I use an integrative approach to treating trauma and PTSD. EMDR, for example, can help reconcile the gap between what someone knows intellectually and what they feel emotionally. A survivor of sexual abuse may understand cognitively that it was not her fault, yet still carry deep shame. EMDR supports the integration of that knowing so it becomes embodied and emotionally real. Brainspotting works directly with trauma stored in the nervous system and body, targeting the physiological states where overwhelming experiences are held. By accessing these deeper layers, it often brings meaningful insight and relief without relying solely on talk.
IFS approaches trauma with compassion for protective parts—such as dissociation—that developed to help someone survive. Rather than pathologizing these responses, we understand their purpose and gently help clients release self-punishing beliefs or repetitive reenactments that once felt necessary but no longer serve them. ISTDP helps release unconscious rage, guilt, and grief tied to those loved ones who caused harm—allowing for greater freedom and relief from longstanding defenses that perpetuated suffering.

Psychologist, Ph.D.
Our traumas not only impact our internal experiences of distress but also our relationships, our work, and overall quality of life. It can be difficult to differentiate between your own survival mechanisms and the coping strategies you inherited. To prevent passing on your trauma responses to the next generation, you can unlearn what is no longer serving you while also learning new skills.

Trauma and PTSD exist because of explicit and implicit memory of events that are out of the ordinary. Therapy explores the connection to both in a safe environment. Symptoms arise from these experiences that can be debilitating and exhausting. Sorting out these connections lead to healing.
