It is necessary to look at what other emotions anger masks, and work on becoming more mindful of one's physical evidence of becoming angry so that different choices can be made sooner once one becomes visibly angry. Often, I meet with people who feel out of control in their lives and become angry when they are also hurt by the way they are treated by others. Sometimes, people were not allowed to sit with or express their feelings as a child and this leads to their not knowing what they are feeling at all, or they try to numb anger with substances or other compulsive behavior.
