When helpful, we look at how these differences may contribute to misunderstandings or tension in relationships with partners, friends, or colleagues, and we work on ways to communicate more clearly, assertively, and effectively across these dynamics. We also examine internalized expectations, perfectionism, self-sacrifice patterns, and the impact of broader societal and cultural pressures on identity and self-worth. Over time, therapy can help create more space for self-advocacy, boundaries, rest, and authenticity. It’s too contradictory and nobody gives you a medal or says thank you! And it turns out in fact that not only are you doing everything wrong, but also everything is your fault.” There's a reason that this speech from the Barbie movie hit so many women so hard -we don't often get to see our struggle so loudly expressed in such a big way. Being a woman does feel so impossible sometimes, and yet, women still have to figure it out somehow. In my work, I help women explore who they have been, who they are today, and who they might want to be eventually. I help women identify what, or who, is standing in their way, and make changes in their lives to navigate these obstacles. Sometimes we can change things, and sometimes we can only change the way we react to them. Either way, women are more capable than they believe, and I love helping my clients learn just what they are capable of when they start to dismantle the outdated and unhelpful thoughts, beliefs and behaviors that keep them from feeling better.
