South Psychology
Psychologist, PhD
South Psychology, based in Centennial, Colorado, specializes in providing evidence-based mental health therapy for individuals dealing with anxiety or fears. Their skilled clinicians employ a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP). Let’s delve into the details:
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP): ERP is a powerful technique used to treat anxiety disorders, particularly obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). It aims to gradually reduce anxiety by exposing individuals to triggering stimuli or thoughts in a safe and controlled environment. Through repeated exposure, people become less physiologically aroused by these triggers, leading to habituation. The response prevention component teaches clients not to give in to compulsive behaviors, ultimately breaking the cycle of anxiety and avoidance.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT): South Psychology integrates CBT principles to help clients understand and manage their anxious thoughts. By identifying cognitive distortions and challenging irrational beliefs, individuals learn healthier coping strategies. CBT equips them with practical tools to navigate anxiety-inducing situations, improve emotional regulation, and enhance overall well-being.
Optimizing Functioning: Beyond symptom reduction, South Psychology focuses on optimizing various aspects of life. Whether it’s excelling in school, advancing in a career, or nurturing social connections, their approach aims to empower clients to thrive despite anxiety or fears.

Jason Herr
Psychologist, Psy.D.
I work with individuals experiencing persistent worry, overthinking, and physical symptoms of anxiety that interfere with daily life. Drawing on extensive clinical experience treating anxiety and related concerns across community mental health and private practice settings, I incorporate biological and neurological education to help clients understand how anxiety affects the brain, body, and nervous system.
Anxiety is a naturally occurring process that can build slowly or appear suddenly. While many people associate anxiety only with panic attacks, it more often shows up as overthinking, constant analyzing, chronic worry, and a low-grade sense of never feeling fully safe. This ongoing activation can cause the limbic system to become overactive and gradually diminish the body’s ability to relax. Anxiety often gives the false impression of control over situations that are ultimately outside of our control.
In our work together, I teach practical skills to regulate the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, reduce reactivity, and restore a sense of internal stability. Together, we develop tools to manage uncertainty, increase tolerance for lack of control, and respond to stress with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional balance.

Dr. Michael M. Grant
Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Psychologist PhD, MBA
If the experience of depression is "stuck in present pain" then the experience of anxiety is "fear of future pain". The core experience of anxiety is fear and fear is always about something in the future that we think is going to cause us pain as it gets closer and closer to the present moment and begins to become it.
We don't fear things that happened in the past...no need to fear them as they are past events. But, as we look at the future and as it becomes our present, we see what we think will hurt us and no one wants to hurt or feel pain. So, we begin to dread these things and the pain we think they will cause us. We begin to fear the experience of pain we are sure is going to happen.
The symptoms of any of the anxiety disorders include not only emotional fear and dread but also behavior: avoidance of the feared thing, attempts to dodge it, saying/doing things to protect oneself from this anticipated pain, etc.
Symptoms are also physiological: heart racing, sweating, feeling restless, fidgety, continuous chewing on thoughts about the feared thing in a vain attempt to "come at it from all angles" in our minds and so somehow lessen the impact we fear. We can also have gastrointestinal problems (the GI system is very sensitive to anxiety), problems sleeping, relationship problems, shallowness of breath, sexual functioning problems, and a host of other physical complaints.
There are some very specific tactics you can learn that will help you manage your anxiety and take your power back in a way that restores a sense of calm--and I can help you learn those tactics.

Joe Groninga
Psychologist, PsyD, LP
I have been treating anxiety symptoms for many years. Therefore, it's an area in which I have particular experience. You and I will examine the component parts of your symptoms such as emotions, behaviors, and thoughts. We’ll then examine how these parts are connected and how they impact each other. I’ll help you create changes to one or more of these parts to achieve your desired symptom relief. Helping people break free from their anxiety is one of the primary reasons I became a psychologist.
