I work primarily from a Rogerian or Person-Centred Therapy (PCT) approach using a conversational style listening patiently to you, always with empathy, genuineness and without judgement, to help find the solutions you desire for your life whilst adjusting my techniques to fit your needs within each session. Being a woman myself and having various life experiences myself along with listening to many, many other women's stories, I feel I have a good understanding of women's issues and how they can impact the person experiencing them. I can support you to find connection, strength and empowerment within your gender to restore balance, happiness and inner peace. I can do this by using various techniques of 'talk therapy' and somatic (mind/body) healing methods, along with offering practical strategies that may be useful where suitable and desired by you. Whatever you are going through, know that there is hope - Let me help you find that hope.

Working with women, as part of the sisterhood, feels deeply nourishing. Exploring all aspects of the femme identity can be rich terrain for reclamation of selfhood. In considering personal histories alongside collective experience, there can be many layers of emotion to grapple with in women's work. Looking developmentally, intergenerationally, with an attachment lens, and from a societal perspective, there is much to explore about what it means to be a woman, to have been raised as a girl, questions around motherhood, the mother wound and mother earth.

Sandy Bay, Tasmania therapist: Wonderful Mess, counselor/therapist
Women's Issues

Wonderful Mess

Counsellor/Therapist, Master of Social Work, Diploma of Counselling
I have become a more and more assertive feminist over the past 4 years, but I have always been aware of how different it is to be a woman in this society. I couldn't play soccer when I was young, not because my parents didn't let me, but because no other girl would play with me, because it was not "girly to play soccer". I was told I "looked too young" for a job when I was 25 - a job that was offered to a 23yo man. But then, more "serious" things happened around me. My friends started having kids and some were treated horrendously by health professionals. The pressure on their shoulders from the very first moment they said they were pregnant: everyone has had something to say about what they did or didn't do, what they are, they way they have been raising their kids. Everything, everything that we women do or don't do is judged by society. Whether we don't want to have children, have children at a "younger or older age", have "one child only". The worst thing, that really breaks my heart, is that this patriarcal society has managed to create conflicts between us women, while I really believe that we should all stand together and support each other. Acknowledge each other and help each other in our own battles. This is my biggest battle as a counsellor: help as many women as I can to realise how much of a warrior they are, in a world where every day is a battle when you have a uterus.

London, England therapist: Marianna Trezza -The Growing mindset, counselor/therapist
Women's Issues

Marianna Trezza -The Growing mindset

Counsellor/Therapist, MA (Hons), Adv Dip. Counsel. & Psychoth.,Dip. Hypnoth., X-Cultural Adaptation Coun. Reg. BACP 572613
Many women spend years adapting to expectations, responsibilities and roles that slowly take them further away from themselves. Over time, this can lead to emotional exhaustion, chronic stress, anxiety, people pleasing, loss of identity or the feeling of constantly having to hold everything together for everyone else. For women living abroad, these pressures are often intensified by the emotional complexity of living between cultures, languages and different versions of oneself. Many of the women I support are highly empathic, capable and caring toward others, while internally feeling disconnected from their own needs, rhythm, voice or sense of belonging. My work offers a warm, reflective and holistic space to explore emotional wellbeing, nervous system regulation, identity, self-worth, belonging and authenticity. I integrate psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, EFT, embodiment, lifestyle medicine, reflective dialogue and nature-based approaches to support women in reconnecting with themselves in a gentler, more grounded and sustainable way.

Women's lives are often shaped by multiple roles, responsibilities and expectations, and it can be easy to lose sight of your own needs while caring for others. I value supporting women to pause, reflect and reconnect with what matters most to them. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, the challenges of menopause, or simply a sense that life no longer feels quite right, therapy can provide a space to understand what's happening and discover new ways of moving forward.
