I am experienced in working with individuals navigating a history of trauma and abuse. I can help you return to safety and help you understand (and change) how it impacts you currently so that you can experience the world as a safe space again.
Trauma is defined not by what happened to us, but by how our hearts, minds, and bodies respond to what happened to us. Whether you have experienced "big" or "little" traumas, you have had experiences which have changed the way you see yourself and the world around you. I hope to help you reclaim the life you want to live and make peace with the parts of your story which hurt you. As you learn to trust your heart, mind, and body again, you will also learn to trust in safe relationships and in your own intuition and strength.
Marriage and Family Therapist, LAMFT, Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
I work with trauma survivors who want to experience freedom from the memories, the compulsions, fears, and unwanted behaviors. I provide a safe place to therapeutically process and work through traumatic experiences. Trauma is not an event or an experience, but it defined by the way it is interpreted by the person. You may have been exposed to something major or it may seem trivial, but your body is processing it as trauma. I am sorry for your pain. This work takes time but you can find rest and peace and I can help you. I am an EMDR trained therapist.
As an experienced and certified trauma therapist, I offer a supportive and client centered approach to help you maintain calm and address the discomfort and self-defeating practices and thoughts that accompany trauma.
Licensed Professional Counselor, DBH, MBA, LPC, NCC
We don't seek to make sense of the past trauma or explain the cause of it. We believe what has happened cannot be erased or explained and instead seek to use the past experiences as a growth step.
As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional, I am well-versed in various trauma-informed approaches that cater to a number of experiences including caregiver burnout & vicarious trauma. I have experience working with individuals who have an abuse history (sexual, emotional, physical, trafficking, etc.), and I tailor these skills to also help those coping with medical trauma and compassion fatigue. Using neuropsychological research and holistic practices, you will learn to build upon the medical model to incorporate additional approaches that help you cope not only with what has happened, but also prepare you for unexpected future crises as well.
PTSD makes you feel stressed and afraid after the danger is over. It affects your life and the people around you. PTSD starts at different times for different people. Signs of PTSD may start soon after a frightening event and then continue. Other people develop new or more severe signs months or even years later. Trauma can be different things to different people: (experiencing natural disasters, childhood abuse and neglect, survivor of domestic violence, etc)
