Dr. Munazza Abraham
Psychologist, PhD
I approach grief as a layered emotional and spiritual process that deserves space, not urgency. Clients are supported in honoring their loss while gently processing painful memories and complicated emotions at their own pace. My practice emphasizes that “Community is medicine” with my creation of therapy groups to increase your sense of belonging and enhance collective healing. I also tap into ancestral knowledge, holistic and evidence-based practices, and the arts, all combined with your interests to tailor your healing experience.

Sometimes a person is diagnosed with Depression but what is actually happening is a normal grieving response to a loss like the death of a loved one, divorce, illness, miscarriage or other significant event. If this is the case then we need to focus on learning about what "counts" as a loss, learning about the grieving process, and supporting the client through the ups and downs that come with it. People process losses in different ways and it's important for clients to be able to identify what their patterns are and what messages they have received from parents, religion and society about how to handle loss. Sometimes these messages really cause harm and make it nearly impossible for someone to go through all the necessary stages of grief in order to integrate the loss into their experience. When we go through a loss, it can be very difficult to think about anything else and it's common for people to engage in behaviors to try to numb emotions and avoid thinking about it. But when we avoid dealing with the loss, it doesn't just get better on its own; rather we just delay the grieving process and the repressed feelings can actually cause physical illness. Additionally, when we don't process and feel our emotions, it's impossible to actually enjoy life because we are spending a lot of energy avoiding feelings and trying to be numb. Part of my job in helping people move through grief is to give them concrete tools they can use to deal with their feelings in small chunks rather than all at once which is overwhelming.

Kisha Winston-Watkins
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW-C, MBA
A common misconception about grief and loss is the expectation to simply 'get over it.' Society often implies that grieving should be brief and that life should carry on as though nothing has changed. However, denying ourselves the time and permission to grieve can impede our ability to heal. Unresolved grief has a way of surfacing in unexpected and often disruptive ways.
The reality is that we don’t ‘get over’ a loss; instead, we learn how to live alongside it. My mission is to provide a compassionate, judgment-free space where individuals can express their loss, navigate their grief, and discover healthy ways to adapt to a new normal. Together, we will uncover your strength and resilience as you move forward in this process.

Margaret Graham
Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC, LCPC, LPCC
My work with grieving clients focuses on creating space for the full complexity of loss in all its forms—death of loved ones, relationship endings, loss of health or identity, and the life you thought you'd be living. Through compassionate, personalized approaches, we address key areas including the non-linear nature of grief, guilt and regret, anger and resentment, and navigating a world that expects you to "move on." I help clients honor their grief while finding ways to continue living, process complicated emotions including relief or ambivalence alongside sadness, develop language for what they're experiencing when words feel inadequate, and create meaningful rituals or practices that acknowledge loss while making space for what remains. My approach recognizes that grief isn't something to fix or get over—it's something to move through and integrate as part of your ongoing story.

Grief isn't a problem to solve or a stage to get through – it's a deeply human response to loss that asks for witness, not fixing. Whether you're mourning a death, a relationship ending, a dream that didn't come true, or the slower losses that come with aging and illness, grief has a way of catching you off-guard when you least expect it. I work with Francis Weller's framework of the 6 Gates of Grief: the loss of someone or something we love, the places in ourselves that have not known love (the wounds and abandonment from our past), the sorrows of the world (climate change, injustice, collective suffering), what we expected and did not receive (unfulfilled dreams and unmet longings), ancestral grief (inherited traumas passed through generations), and the harm we have caused (the regret and moral struggle of our own shortcomings). We'll explore how these different dimensions of grief show up in your life, how to allow rather than resist the waves when they come, and how to find your way back to aliveness even while carrying loss. This isn't about "moving on" or "getting closure" – it's about learning to hold grief without it consuming you, and discovering that you can grieve and still experience vitality.
