Gambling problems rarely start as problems. They often begin as entertainment, a way to unwind, a rush that offers relief from stress or boredom or something harder to name. Over time, for some people, it shifts. The losses get harder to walk away from, the urge to chase them grows stronger, and what started as recreation starts costing real things: money, relationships, trust, and self-respect. Problem gambling is one of the more isolating struggles a person can face. The shame around it tends to run deep, and the secrecy that develops around it can make everything worse. Most people dealing with it have already tried to stop or cut back on their own. The fact that it keeps happening is not a matter of willpower. It is a pattern with real psychological and behavioral roots that responds well to focused, structured treatment. In our work together, we look honestly at the role gambling has played, what has been driving it, and what has made it difficult to stop. We build concrete strategies for managing urges, address the underlying stress, anxiety, or emotional patterns that feed the behavior, and work on repairing the areas of life that have taken the hit. My approach is direct and nonjudgmental. I have worked with people navigating substance misuse and behavioral patterns for over a decade and understand how these cycles work and what it actually takes to break them.
