Mia Klassen
Licensed Professional Counsellor, MPCC #3875, CT #2438, LSCC
If you've been told you have a personality disorder—or suspect you might—you've likely spent years feeling misunderstood, stigmatized, or blamed for patterns you don't know how to change. These aren't character flaws; they're trauma responses that became your survival blueprint. Once we've built trust, we'll explore how your early experiences shaped how you see yourself, others, and relationships. You'll receive deep understanding for the specific symptoms you struggle with—the emotional intensity, the relationship chaos, the identity confusion. Through compassionate modeling and support, you'll learn new patterns, regulate what feels uncontrollable, and discover that change is possible. You're not broken; you're surviving.

Daniel Klassen
Psychologist, Provisional, (P7619) with CAP in Alberta & Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC 19147) with BCACC, for elsewhere in Canada
Living with a personality disorder (PD) can be profoundly challenging and emotionally painful. Individuals with PDs often struggle with persistent difficulties in how they see themselves, interpret the world, and relate to others. These challenges can lead to unstable emotions, unpredictable behaviors, and deeply strained relationships. Feelings of emptiness, intense fear of abandonment, and a fragmented sense of identity are common and can make everyday life feel overwhelming.
The impact of a personality disorder often extends into many areas of life—causing interpersonal conflict, difficulty maintaining employment, and even challenges with stable housing. On top of these struggles, individuals with PDs frequently face stigma and misunderstanding, which can further deepen feelings of isolation, shame, and hopelessness.
Despite these hurdles, meaningful recovery is possible. With the right support—including evidence-based therapy, skill-building, and, in some cases, medication—individuals can learn to manage their symptoms and build a more stable, fulfilling life. Healing involves navigating conflict, clarifying personal identity and values, developing effective coping strategies, setting healthy boundaries, and cultivating supportive relationships.
Daniel, a Certified Personality Disorder Treatment Provider (C-PD), specializes in helping individuals with PDs reclaim their lives. His compassionate and structured approach empowers clients to move beyond survival and toward a deeper sense of self-awareness, connection, and emotional resilience.
Daniel offers both brief screening for personality disorders and comprehensive, customized assessments. He welcomes inquiries regarding this and other psychological testing services he provides.

Restoring Internal Peace: Navigating Emotional Intensity and Relational Shifts
Living with a personality disorder—or navigating the intense emotional turbulence associated with one—often feels like moving through the world without emotional armor. Everyday interactions can trigger profound surges of anxiety, deep-seated fears of abandonment, or sudden shifts in how you view yourself and the people you care about most.
When your nervous system stays stuck in high-alert, protecting yourself can end up creating intense inner turmoil and volatile relationship patterns. It is an exhausting cycle: longing for deep, safe connection while simultaneously feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, or terrified of vulnerability.
At Harness of Joy Psychotherapy Services, we provide a stable, non-judgmental sanctuary where you are treated with dignity, not labeled by a diagnosis. Guided by our foundational values of empathy, integrity, tailored care, and authentic growth, we offer a structured, heart-centered space to help you make sense of these overwhelming emotional waves.
Through our neurobiologically-grounded, trauma-informed approach, we support you to:
Soothe Nervous System Dysregulation: Develop practical somatic grounding tools to navigate sudden emotional spikes, chronic distress, and feelings of emptiness safely.
Transform Relational Patterns: Understand underlying attachment wounds, build healthy communication strategies, and cultivate secure boundaries that foster lasting, stable relationships.
Anchor a Secure Sense of Self: Dismantle severe self-criticism, integrate fragmented emotional experiences, and build a quiet, steady self-trust rooted in genuine peace and resilience.
You are far more than a set of symptoms or coping patterns. Healing is about coming home to yourself—moving away from constant survival mode so you can step into balanced relationships, emotional stability, and restored vitality.

Lincoln Stoller
Counsellor/Therapist, PhD, CHt, CCPCP
From my work with people both functional and dysfunctional, and from the perspectives of conscious and subconscious intentions, I believe we are composed of multiple personalities that alternatively control us in reaction to our environment. That being said, the crucial link between how we think and how we act is how we perceive. Personality disorders are a combination of distorted perceptions and inappropriate reactions. After all, it's your behavior that determines how you're seen.
Your behavior is a map of how you perceive and interpret. Your behavior is a symptom, not a dysfunction. This is why I object to cognitive behavioral therapies that considers normal behavior to be the goal, and anything that makes others see you as normal to be a success. This is a bandage over an unhealed wound.
It is nearly impossible to change your personality unless you want to. Even then, your habits and attachments present roadblocks. It takes real commitment and a creative vision to drop old patterns and incubate new ones. And when I say "creative," I mean that you have to reinvent yourself. You will need skillful and unbiased support from someone who is not attached to your past and present.
It is a fundamental truth that you cannot appreciate change before you understand it. You will need to become your own warrior, advocate, and politician in beating back old urges, compulsions, regrets, and injuries. Memories are not the truth, and memories change as you become less reliant on them. All of this happens below your cognitive behavior, reasoning, and established patterns.
You can change your personality. What now appear as disorders are compensations for twisted habits, injured memories, learned perceptions, and unconscious triggers. You can change these if you want to. Find enough love for and faith in yourself to do what is essential in the long term. Drop your coping strategies and aim for something greater than what you can see.
