Manisha Grewal (She/Her)

Counselor/Therapist, BA (Hons), MA, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Do you tend to replay past events in your mind over and over, and spiral into worries about the future? Do you struggle with boundaries, people-pleasing, or relationships, causing you to "overgive" to others while abandoning your own needs? Many people describe feeling like they’re moving through life on autopilot — weighed down by overthinking, low mood, or the pressure to keep everyone else happy. You might notice people-pleasing tendencies, difficulty maintaining boundaries, or a pattern of overgiving that leaves you drained, ungrounded, and disconnected from yourself. Here, you’ll find a warm, calm space where your feelings are validated and your voice genuinely matters. Together, we’ll engage in meaningful, deep processing work, explore what's fuelling your distress, and gently uncover the deeper experiences and patterns shaping your emotional world. Alongside this, we’ll build practical tools to regulate your nervous system and ease your symptoms in the present, helping you reconnect with a more empowered, resilient, and self-aware version of yourself. I bring the richness of three cultures, four languages, and the lived experience of being both a first- and third-generation immigrant. My background in the medical field also allows me to integrate physiological and psychological insight. These parts of who I am allow me to deeply empathize with the immigrant journey across generations, as well as the ways culture, family expectations, and identity can shape mental health. No matter your background or story, I aim to meet you with genuine understanding, respect, and compassion. I am a proud ally to LGBTQIA2S+ and BIPOC communities and offer inclusive, compassionate care for all backgrounds and lived experiences. If what I’ve shared resonates, we may be a good fit. If you're curious about working together, let's start with a free, no-pressure 30-min video consultation, where we can connect and chat in a calm, relaxed space. ✨ Evening and weekend appointments available ✨ Free 30-minute consultation to get started

  • Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
  • Contemplative Psychotherapy Combines mindfulness and meditation practices with modern psychology. It encourages awareness and compassion as part of the healing process.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Experiential Therapy Involves hands-on activities to bring emotions into the present moment. It helps clients process feelings more deeply than through conversation alone.
  • Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
  • Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
  • Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) A short-term approach focused on improving relationships and social support. It is often used for depression and grief.
  • Jungian Therapy Draws on Carl Jung’s ideas about archetypes, dreams, and the collective unconscious. It helps people explore deeper layers of meaning.
  • Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Neuropsychology Examines how brain function affects thinking, memory, and behavior. It often involves assessment and rehabilitation strategies.
  • Object Relations Therapy Focuses on how early caregiver relationships shape current relationships. It aims to improve patterns of attachment and trust.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.

  • Self Psychology Explores the development of self-esteem and identity. It emphasizes the importance of empathy in healing.
  • Social Constructionist Therapy Looks at how social and cultural context shapes identity and problems. It helps clients create new narratives of meaning.
  • Social Learning Therapy Based on the idea that people learn behaviors by observing others. It applies modeling and reinforcement to encourage healthy change.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
  • Transpersonal Therapy Integrates spirituality and higher states of consciousness with psychology. It encourages growth beyond the individual self.
Approach Description: When you step into therapy with me, you’ll find a calm, safe, and judgment-free space where your voice is central. I will listen closely, honour the wisdom you already carry, and collaborate with you to create a plan that aligns with your personal goals and values. We will move at a pace that feels right for you. Many clients come to me seeking not just relief from symptoms, but also a deeper understanding of themselves — how past experiences and trauma have shaped their worldview, patterns of responding, and sense of self. Therapy is a space to reflect, grow, and discover new ways of relating to yourself and others. I have worked with individuals from many cultural, spiritual, and religious backgrounds, and I always strive to tailor therapy to each person’s unique context. I proudly stand as an ally to LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities, offering an inclusive and affirming space where every part of you is welcome. My approach is compassionate, client-centered, and culturally sensitive — never one-size-fits-all. In every session, I prioritize creating a sense of safety so you can feel secure enough to explore, heal, and thrive. I integrate evidence-based modalities including existential therapy, parts work (IFS), somatic approaches, emotion-focused work, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These approaches combine practical strategies for managing immediate distress with deeper exploration of identity, patterns, and meaning. This balance allows us to work not only on easing symptoms in the moment but also on creating lasting growth and resilience. Therapy is a journey of self-discovery, healing, and meaningful growth. I know starting can feel daunting, but you don’t have to do it alone. Throughout our work together, I’ll honour that you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to support, guide, and walk alongside you at a pace that feels right. If my approach resonates, I invite you to reach out with any questions. If you’re curious about working together, let’s start with a free, no-pressure 30-min video consultation, where we can connect and chat in a calm, relaxed space.
