Living with chronic pain or illness can be exhausting, especially when symptoms are invisible, misunderstood, or difficult to explain. Many people feel caught between medical answers that do not fully help and a body that continues to signal distress. I specialize in working with chronic pain and mind-body symptoms using Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and nervous system-based approaches. Our work together explores how stress, trauma, and protective patterns in the nervous system can influence physical symptoms while honoring the real complexity of living with pain or illness.

When medical interventions have reached their limits, clinical hypnosis offers new possibilities for pain management and improved quality of life. My work in this area is supported by robust clinical evidence showing significant reductions in pain intensity through hypnotherapeutic techniques. I help clients develop personalized pain management protocols that address the psychological dimensions of chronic pain. Through targeted hypnotic suggestion and mind-body techniques, clients often experience meaningful relief while developing greater agency in their relationship with pain. I have made Chronic Illness and Pain a specialty in my practice and I have trained with some of the leading experts in that area. I have worked with many chronic pain sufferers, often eliminating all their pain even when it has been a long standing problem. As far as illnesses go, I have been able to eliminate all the symptoms of a client who was suffering from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a degenerative neurological condition related to ALS or Lou Gehrigs disease. When I first met him, he had been degenerating for 12 years, was confined to a wheelchair, could no longer speak, drooled constantly, suffered from tremors and repetitive movements, inability to sleep and he lacked motivation to do his physical therapy, the only treatment doctors could offer him. With no treatment or drugs for his condition, doctors expected him to die soon most likely from choking as he lost control of his swallowing. After one session, we stopped the tremors and repetitive movements, got him to sleep more soundly and do his PT. After a second session he was able to speak again and walk again. After 5 sessions one couldn't even tell he was sick and now 6 years later he is still gardening, walking his dog, hiking in the mountains. Soon after I worked with a gentleman who had developed an adult onset form of Muscular Dystrophy called Myotonic Dystrophy. Only 45 years old, he suffered from severe chronic fatigue, finding himself unable to get out of bed in the morning, taking hours to stand up. He had muscular pain and rigidity, painful joints and various digestive issues. The morning after our first session, he woke up full of energy and jumped out of bed. After a few more sessions we eliminated all his physical symptoms as well as clearing several emotional issues that had plagued him his whole life. Recently he contacted me to update me and report his still feeling good. I have also worked with clients with MS and Parkinsons> This past year I trained and certified in treating IBS and other gut conditions, learning a protocol which is considered the most effective treatment for these issues. I have also trained and certified in Hypno-Oncology, enabling me to support patients on their Cancer journey to deal with pain, anxiety, and the effects of treatment such as nausea. Recently, I worked with a woman with stage 4 lung Cancer. Her only hope was a new experimental protocol that involved a long needle inserted into the stomach. She had a lifelong needle phobia and was terrified. After the first grueling treatment she came home and cried and vomited for 3 days. After one session she went in for her second treatment and she was able to laugh and sing show tunes with the nurses throughout the treatment, felt no pain and went home calm and relaxed.

I wonder if you notice any difference in your body right now, at this very moment. Can you sit with it a second longer? Perhaps, there is a small part of your body that is not feeling as strained, knotted, tingly, throbbing, or numb as it was before you made this decision to read therapist's profiles? Through an attachment somatic therapy approach, we'll pendulate from identifying and enjoying these small to large wonderful exhales of relief from pain with intentional befriending and curiosity towards pain in a welcoming of all parts of you to be recognized, heard, and validated in a journey towards the freedom to live an engaged life of presence with yourself, your dreams, your responsibilities, and your relationships.

For clients with Chronic Health Conditions, often we encourage brain retraining via Gupta or other programs as an adjunct, and/or bio/neurofeedback including SSP, which we can offer remotely. Our practice focuses more on the deeper care for what might have been the conditions prior to the chronic health condition setting in, or work from a remote CranioSacral model. Clients might also seek functional and/or integrative approach to easing and managing symptoms and flares. We could apply an intersectional lens to work through ableism trauma as well, as an example.

When Pain or Illness Shapes Your Days Living with ongoing pain or illness can quietly take over your life. You may look “fine” to others while inside you’re exhausted from trying to manage symptoms, appointments, and emotions that come with them. It’s common to feel frustrated with your body, anxious about flare-ups, or isolated when people don’t truly understand what you’re going through. You might notice that the harder you fight your pain, the more your stress and tension grow. You may grieve the life you used to have, or feel guilty for not being able to “push through” like you once did. In our work together, we’ll use a structured, evidence-based approach called TEAM-CBT to help you reduce emotional suffering, even when physical symptoms remain. You’ll learn practical tools to: Ease the anxiety, frustration, and guilt that often accompany chronic conditions Calm the mind–body loop that keeps pain and stress feeding each other Reconnect with your body as an ally rather than an enemy Build confidence in managing daily life with greater balance and compassion Our sessions combine cognitive and emotional tools with mindfulness-based practices. You’ll track your progress each week and practice brief daily exercises that retrain the brain’s stress response — supporting both emotional and physical resilience. I BELIEVE: Pain and illness don’t define you — they reveal your strength and capacity to adapt. Emotional healing supports physical healing; they work together, not apart. You deserve care that honors your whole experience, not just your symptoms. Acceptance doesn’t mean giving up; it means finding peace even in uncertainty. Humor, gentleness, and self-compassion are powerful forms of medicine. Also Integrated In Our Work: • Interpersonal Work – to strengthen connection and empower you to be yourself using The 5 Secrets of Effective Communication • Mindful Self-Compassion – to cultivate a gentler, kinder inner voice through the work of Dr. Kristin Neff • Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM) – to regulate the nervous system and support trauma recovery alongside cognitive tools for a well-rounded approach

San Bernardino has among the highest rates of poverty and violent crime of any California city, and its therapists frequently work with community-level trauma, economic stress, and the compounding psychological effects of systemic disinvestment — challenges that have intensified through a city bankruptcy, rising homelessness, and limited public resources. The city has a predominantly Latino and Black population, and bilingual and culturally affirming therapists serve essential access roles in communities where language barriers and financial precarity limit engagement with conventional mental health services. Arrowhead Regional Medical Center provides the primary institutional mental health anchor for San Bernardino County's most vulnerable populations, with a private therapy community serving the university and suburban corridors. California State University San Bernardino's psychology programs supply some clinical training to the region, though the Inland Empire as a whole remains significantly underserved.
