Treatment Approach

  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
  • Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) Helps clients challenge and replace irrational beliefs. It is an action-oriented approach for lasting change.
  • Self Psychology Explores the development of self-esteem and identity. It emphasizes the importance of empathy in healing.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: I use an approach called TEAM, a structured, evidence-based method that helps people see meaningful results quickly. We measure progress each week by checking in on your mood and tracking how you’re feeling, so we can clearly see what’s working and what needs adjustment. You’ll see your progress from week to week, not just hope that things are improving. Before introducing any tools, we take time to make sure you feel fully understood. This step, called empathy, means slowing down and really connecting with what you’re experiencing—something many clients find healing on its own. We then set clear goals so each session stays focused on what matters most, helping you make progress faster without therapy feeling endless or vague. Once we’ve identified your goals, I’ll teach you simple, research-backed tools that help you change the thoughts and habits keeping you stuck. These methods are grounded in neuroscience about how the brain learns and rewires itself, creating powerful and lasting change. Between sessions, you’ll practice brief daily exercises (about 15–20 minutes a day) to strengthen what you’re learning so progress continues throughout the week. This combination of structure, compassion, and science helps clients feel better faster and sustain those gains over time. Most notice real shifts—less anxiety, more calm, and greater confidence—within about six to twelve weeks. Also integrated into our work are complementary approaches that create a well-rounded path toward healing and growth. Interpersonal Work strengthens connection and empowers you to be yourself. Mindful Self-Compassion cultivates a gentler, kinder inner voice. The Trauma Resiliency Model supports regulation of the nervous system and aids recovery alongside cognitive tools, ensuring an approach that supports both mind and body.

Stephanie Morfitt, LCSW More Fit Mental Health Practice Description
I specialize in working with women — ages 25 and up —who are navigating anxiety, relationship problems, and patterns of self-criticism. Many of my clients are high-achieving professionals, caregivers, or creatives who seem to have it all together on the outside but are quietly overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or disconnected from themselves. Common themes include people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, indecisiveness, and relentless overthinking. Whether you’re feeling stuck, navigating a life transition, or simply craving a deeper connection to yourself, I’m here to support you. I help people shift out of survival mode and into a more grounded, intentional, and empowered way of living. Our work is a collaborative and personalized experience, guided by your needs, goals, and values. My primary approach is TEAM-CBT, an evidence-based model created by Dr. David Burns at Stanford that helps shift unhelpful thinking patterns into more balanced thoughts, often leading to significant and measurable improvement in about 12 weeks. In addition to TEAM-CBT, I also draw from other approaches when they are helpful for your goals: Interpersonal Work – to strengthen connection and empower you to be yourself in relation to others using The 5 Secrets of Effective Communication Mindful Self-Compassion – to cultivate a gentler, kinder inner voice using the work of Dr. Kristin Neff Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM) – to regulate the nervous system and support trauma recovery, developed by Elaine Miller-Karas, LCSW, and Laurie Leitch, PhD Sessions blend insight, emotional processing, and practical tools you can use right away. Brief between-session practices help deepen the impact of our work and lead to more rapid recovery. This is a space for honest reflection, growth, and empowerment, where lasting change feels possible. Call me for a free 20-minute consultation to see what it’s like to work together.
