By utilizing evidence-based practices, I aim to equip individuals with the necessary tools and skills to navigate life's challenges and achieve their goals. Therapy with me is active, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices—we are doing real work together, not just talking about your week. Each session is intentional and engaging, focused on creating meaningful insight and change you can feel in your daily life. I see myself as a warm, intuitive, and deeply attentive therapist who believes that meaningful change happens when people feel truly safe, accepted, and understood. My goal is to offer a nonjudgmental space where you can exhale—where you don’t have to have the right words, the right story, or the right reason to be there. Therapy with me is about feeling heard, finding clarity where things have felt confusing or stuck, and reconnecting with yourself in a way that feels real and sustainable. I am deeply passionate about relationships, emotional honesty, self-acceptance, and the quiet, often unseen struggles people carry. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure why they’re unhappy when, on the surface, life looks “fine.” I work with individuals and couples navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, co-dependency, shame, guilt, and the lasting impact of past experiences or trauma. I also help people talk about things that are hard to name—topics that may feel embarrassing, stigmatized, or kept private for a long time. I especially enjoy working with people who are curious about themselves and open to growth, even if they feel nervous or unsure at first. You don’t need to be “creative” or insightful to start—just willing to show up. Together, we gently explore your thoughts, emotions, and patterns, and look for more flexible, compassionate ways of relating to yourself and the people you care about. Therapy doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time; there can be space for curiosity, reflection, and even moments of lightness along the way. My approach is grounded in evidence-based therapies, offered with warmth and humanity. While we honor your past, our work focuses on what’s happening now—and on helping you feel more present, more grounded, and more aligned with your values. I strive to help clients move through life with greater awareness, emotional balance, and self-trust, while reducing the anxiety, sadness, or self-criticism that may be getting in the way. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the Unified Protocol for emotional difficulties, and mindfulness-based approaches, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills. In simple terms, this means we work together to notice patterns in thoughts, feelings, and behaviors—and gently shift what’s no longer serving you. These approaches are practical, supportive, and designed to help you feel better, not just understand why you feel the way you do. At its heart, therapy with me is about building a genuine, supportive relationship—one that helps you feel more like yourself, more connected to others, and more confident in how you move through your life.

San Diego, California therapist: Su Boudreau, LMFT, marriage and family therapist
SFBT

Su Boudreau, LMFT

Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Domestic Violence Counselor
A secure online platform will be used for weekly sessions. I have found that online/telehealth therapy has been an effective and safe method to meet with clients which provides its own unique benefits, such as the convenience of being at home or at work for clients to help manage busy schedule, financial and time saving from reduced traveling needs, as well as health conscious people. Therapy services utilizing telehealth mode showed in research studies with increased attendance and treatment outcome. Telehealth's another key benfit is the ability to provide the quality service/Clinician unbound by geographical locations. The availability of online therapy expand the opportunity to meet the service needs for more people with personal, practical limitations. For example, Bipolar is when someone is experiencing extreme polar emotional fluctuations at different times. We all can experience opposite emotional experiences that can be a part of life. It is up to the clinicians to examine whether your symptoms are clinically significant or not. When it is diagnosed, it often necessitates medication treatment along with psychotherapy as it is one of the most difficult conditions to treat without medication in severe to moderate presentations. It is also one of highly complex diagnoses that a master's level educated licensed marriage and family therapists and social workers, for example, are not typically expected to diagnose bipolar disorder. At the Practice, the skilled practitioner/Clinician is available who's been experienced with identifying such complicated symptoms in a much shorter period as well as to provide effective clinical treatment and recommendations. Researches found that it takes about 10 years for someone to be properly diagnosed with complicated diagnosis, such as bipolar from the time the person first contact a mental health service for help. They are commonly misdiagnosed with depression. That is a 10 year of wasted life, energy, deteriorated relationships, and reduced productivity/income on someone. I highly recommend contacting the office asap if you suspect that you have the related and/or other various symptoms. Starting a therapy journey is an investment in one's future life. It will take time, conscious and even financial committment for at least next 3 to 6 months for most people. Just like many aspects in life, the commitment to work on making the necessary changes in yourself is the requirement to see effective results in therapy. Those who are committed in the process and ready will leap the rewards. The practice wants to hear from those who are ready for making the positive changes!

My consultation The method of Prof. Dr. Nosssrat Peseschkian (known as positive transcultural psychotherapy) enables a holistic development of personality and society by linking the following three areas: 1. positive development in the narrower sense (mental and physical well-being of the individual). 2. positive development in a broader sense (connection between mental health, job, family, partnership, future (the "balance model" we call it in the sense of personality development) 3. positive development in a comprehensive sense (mental health through cooperation between different areas of life: science, politics, economy, society, worldview and religion. The Psychodynamic Positive Method is a depth-psychologically founded, resource-oriented and conflict-centred method from a transcultural perspective and was founded in 1968 by Prof. Dr. Nossrat Peseschkian.
