Viktoria Walda Byczkiewicz, Ph.D.

Pre-Licensed Professional, PhD
As a Northern California-based depth psychologist, I find that Telehealth can be just as effective as in-person therapy, with the added advantages of convenience and accessibility. While I appreciate working with people from all walks of life, I am especially passionate about helping people face transitions: elders, those in midlife, students, artists, thinkers, and my fellow therapists. I am also committed to helping couples to manage conflict and envision new ways of communicating and being together. Everyone has the capacity to change, to heal their wounds, and to find ways to cope with the demands and difficulties of contemporary life. We will collaborate to develop insight into your unique way of being and consider underlying or long-held patterns that either help or hinder you in navigating our world. From the core values of mutual regard, respectful dialogue, and humility, we will engage in a psychodynamic exploration of who you are, how you came to be where you are now, and where you dream of going.

Relational psychoanalysis offers the space to understand not only what has happened to you, but how your history continues to shape your inner world, often outside of conscious awareness. Together we can make sense of your story, identify patterns that no longer suit you, and create room in your mind to live with greater freedom. If you're looking to effect deep change in your life, I welcome you to reach out for a free consultation.

Layla Ashley Psychotherapy

Many couples struggle when conflict keeps repeating or one partner feels unseen, and distance grows even when both care deeply. In online sessions, I help partners slow down these patterns, recognize what’s happening beneath the surface, and build the skills to stay emotionally connected. Through attachment‑based and trauma‑informed practices, I guide couples toward communication that is safe, honest, and repair-focused, even when stress or past wounds are present. Online therapy can be a convenient, contained space to explore challenges together without the distractions of daily life.

Therapy can be a leap of faith, a hopeful search for relief from uncomfortable or unmanageable states, or a reach for deeper insight and meaning. Whether temporary, or longer term those first steps can at times be the most tentative, however quite rewarding once taken. My foundational training in the Psychodynamic, Depth and Humanistic traditions merged with innovative and evidence based advancements in attachment theory, neuroscience and the body’s stress response, have led me to a strengths based, integrative and client centered approach whereby each treatment plan is tailored appropriately to the unique needs of each client. With experience in Residential Inpatient, Intensive Outpatient and private practice, I view my work as a collaboration with the client that honors the person and their process working towards healthy relationships – with Self, others and their environment. My style has been described as calm, insightful and reflective. Areas of focus include EMDR, which has been deeply rewarding work for clients seeking support with trauma and addiction, and neuroscience based strategies aimed at regulating the nervous system to deal with the presence of anxiety and depression. I work in telehealth with teens and adults, and have experience with the unique challenges faced by clients who work in the motion picture industry.

Thousand Oaks, California therapist: Kristin Robert, marriage and family therapist
Jungian

Kristin Robert

Marriage and Family Therapist, AMFT
I approach therapy with steadiness, depth, and respect for the complexity of being human. I bring more than 17 years of experience in the mental health and addiction field, including a decade of leadership within high-acuity treatment. I have worked alongside people and families during crisis, relapse, profound loss, psychiatric instability, relational rupture, and the long, uneven process of rebuilding a life. That experience shaped my ability to remain grounded when circumstances are intense, answers are unclear, or several conflicting truths exist at once. I do not rush people toward acceptance, forgiveness, or a solution before their experience has been fully understood. Not every loss can be transformed into a lesson, and not every painful chapter can be tied neatly with a bow. Sometimes the first meaningful shift is finally being able to name what happened without minimizing it, defending someone else, or questioning whether you are entitled to feel its impact. I work to create a space where difficult material can be spoken plainly, examined carefully, and held without judgment, shame, or pressure to perform healing correctly. I do not understand people as broken, disordered, or reduced to a collection of symptoms. Anxiety, perfectionism, withdrawal, control, people-pleasing, anger, hyper-independence, and emotional shutdown rarely develop without context. They often began as intelligent attempts to remain safe, connected, accepted, or functional in circumstances that required adaptation. The problem is not that these responses once existed. The problem is that strategies developed for survival can quietly become the architecture of an adult life, continuing long after the original danger has passed. Therapy allows us to slow the pattern down enough to understand it. Together, we examine what shaped you, what you learned to expect from relationships, which roles you were assigned or adopted, and what parts of yourself became unacceptable, inconvenient, or unsafe to express. We look at what continues to repeat despite insight and effort, where your present choices may still be organized around old fears, and what it costs to remain loyal to ways of living that no longer fit. My style is relational, warm, direct, and deeply engaged. I am not a silent therapist, and I will not offer polished reassurance when honesty would serve you better. I listen closely, ask intentional questions, identify patterns, and offer perspective or challenge when it can deepen the work. I also remain attentive to pacing. Directness without attunement can become intrusion, just as compassion without honesty can leave someone understood but unchanged. I believe meaningful therapy requires both care and accountability, held in a relationship where difficult conversations can feel safe enough to have. I draw from attachment-based, somatic, motivational, cognitive behavioral, and depth-oriented approaches. I do not force clients into a single theory or rely on a one-size-fits-all model. Some experiences need language and meaning. Others are carried through bodily activation, numbness, vigilance, or a nervous system that has not yet recognized that the threat has ended. Some patterns require practical intervention, while others must be understood at their roots. The work is shaped around the person in front of me and what will allow change to become both meaningful and sustainable. I work especially well with clients seeking deep, transformational work rather than symptom management alone. You do not need to arrive with perfect insight, a clear goal, or the language to explain everything. What matters is a willingness to become curious about what is happening beneath the surface, to examine what is and is not working, and to participate honestly in the process. Motivation does not mean certainty. It means being willing to remain in the conversation when the work becomes uncomfortable, complicated, or unexpectedly revealing. Therapy is not about becoming a more acceptable version of yourself. It is about distinguishing who you are from who you had to become to feel safe, loved, needed, or protected. It is about deciding which adaptations still serve you, which have become too costly, and how to remain connected to others without repeatedly abandoning yourself. At the center of my work is a belief in each person’s capacity for self-understanding, agency, and meaningful choice. I bring clinical knowledge and experience, but I do not position myself as the authority over your inner life. You are the person who has lived it. My role is to help you see more clearly, make connections that may have remained outside awareness, and create enough safety and honesty for something different to become possible. I hold that responsibility with care, seriousness, humility, and a genuine respect for the trust required to invite another person into the places you have learned to keep hidden.
