Bethesda, Maryland therapist: Dr. Patricia Webbink, psychologist
Women's Issues

Dr. Patricia Webbink

Psychologist, MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology
For 50 years I have specialized in women's issues in psychotherapy. I was the first Feminist Therapist in the Washington, DC metro area. I specialize in women's issues, and have presented on this subject at the Association for Humanistic Psychology as well as the American Psychological Association. I have also given talks all over the United States on Feminist Therapy. I was featured on the front page of the "Outlook" section of The Washington Post on this topic. In addition, I conducted the initial training for the staff of the Rape Crisis Center in the early 1970's. I also taught a class on Women's studies for The George Washington University, and American University. In addition, I gave talks on Feminist Therapy to the Brookings Institute and different colleges and universities. I have written articles for "Off Our Backs" and have chapters in "The Radical Therapist" and "Rough Times". I also organized a Feminist Therapy Conference in Washington, D.C. You are welcome to attend my regular free zoom webinars. Please feel free to call for further information and/or a consultation: 301-229-8000.

Annapolis, Maryland therapist: Eric Weinstein, life coach
Women's Issues

Eric Weinstein

Life Coach, Hypnosis and NLP, shamanic healing, Energy Psychology (including "tapping"), Voice Dialogue
It might seem strange for a man to list women’s issues as a specialty, but it was the mistreatment of women in my life that inspired me to research alternatives to mainstream medicine and mental health. I don’t claim to have special insights into women’s issues, but as a member of a “target” group myself (I’m a man of color, and a short one at that.), I relate to some of the societal “isms” that women face. A girlfriend once said “You think more like a woman than any man I’ve known.” I think she was exasperated, but I was complimented. Maybe this is why I attract a higher percentage of female clients (especially female therapists!) than most males in a therapeutic role, and why I’ve long had more female friends than male friends. I’m a reasonably enlightened guy who’s proud to say I’m a feminist (although I also work well and respectfully with women who are politically and religiously traditional and/or conservative). So, if you think it might help to have a male perspective and (depending on your age) some healthy father energy in your life, get in touch.

When treating women's issues, creating a safe and empathetic space for women to explore their unique experiences and concerns without judgment is essential in sessions. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques can be employed to address specific cognitive distortions or negative thought patterns related to women's issues, such as imposter syndrome or body image concerns. Integrative therapy may incorporate elements of DBT, internal family systems, and somatic therapy to holistically address women's issues, considering the interplay of psychological, interpersonal, and cultural factors in the client's life.
