Kevin Brown, Therapy in Mindfulness
Counselor/Therapist, LPC
Anxiety is a natural part of the human experience—sometimes serving as a helpful guide, and other times becoming overwhelming or debilitating. Healthy anxiety keeps us engaged and responsible, while excessive anxiety can lead to avoidance, disconnection, and missed opportunities for growth. In our work together, we will explore how anxiety operates uniquely for you, develop tools to regulate and befriend it, and transform its energy into a force that supports your well-being and fulfillment. Through somatic awareness and nervous system regulation, we will cultivate resilience, helping you move through life with greater ease and confidence.

Restore Life Counseling Service, LLC
Counselor/Therapist, LPC
Fear and anxiety can last for a short time and then pass, but they can also last much longer and you can get stuck with them. In some cases they can take over your life, affecting your ability to eat, sleep, concentrate, travel, enjoy life, or even leave the house or go to work or school. This can hold you back from doing things you want or need to do, and it also affects your health. I would love to give you tools to finally get rid of these emotions that hinder you!

Elizabeth Starnes
Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC-S, ATR-BC®, REAT
Anxiety and fear can feel overwhelming, especially when your reactions don’t seem to match what’s happening in the present. Many clients I work with struggle with racing thoughts, self-doubt, or a constant sense of unease, often feeling frustrated with themselves for not being able to “just calm down.” These responses often make sense when we begin to understand the experiences behind them—past trauma, difficult relationships, or early messages about safety and worth. In our work together, we slow things down and explore these patterns with curiosity rather than judgment. I integrate talk therapy with expressive arts therapy, using a variety of approaches including visual journaling, storytelling, movement, and other forms of creative expression, adapted to align with your natural ways of expressing and understanding your experience, alongside a parts-informed perspective to help explore the aspects of you that hold fear, anxiety, or protective responses.

Jill Wiseman
Licensed Professional Counselor, MA, LPC-S
I use two primary evidence-based approaches to help clients reduce symptoms of anxiety, stress, and trauma: Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a powerful, research-supported method that helps the brain process distressing memories and emotional triggers. Many clients experience significant relief from anxiety triggers in as few as 1–5 sessions, allowing them to move forward without the same emotional intensity. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm. By learning to recognize these patterns, clients can develop healthier perspectives and more effective coping strategies.
Together, ART and CBT can provide faster relief from anxious thinking, reduced emotional distress, and give you practical tools to navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional balance.

Phillip McCulley
Marriage and Family Therapist, MA, LMFT, CSAT
I help individuals and couples who are struggling with anxiety, excessive worry, or fears that interfere with daily life, relationships, or self confidence. Anxiety can show up in many ways, including racing thoughts, constant tension, difficulty relaxing, avoidance, or feeling overwhelmed by decisions or uncertainty. Together, we work to better understand how anxiety operates in your life and what may be maintaining it.
My approach focuses on helping you develop practical tools to manage anxious thoughts, regulate emotions, and feel more grounded in the present. We also explore underlying experiences or patterns that may be contributing to ongoing fear or stress. For some clients, this includes working through past experiences that continue to trigger anxiety in the present.
The goal is not to eliminate anxiety entirely, but to help you relate to it differently so it no longer controls your choices or limits your life. Over time, many clients find they are better able to face fears, tolerate uncertainty, and feel more confident navigating relationships, work, and everyday challenges.

Overwhelming anxiety and fear cause immobilizing impairments in daily life, and can lead to other problems like addiction or depression. Dr. Michael M. Grant
Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Psychologist PhD, MBA
If the experience of depression is "stuck in present pain" then the experience of anxiety is "fear of future pain". The core experience of anxiety is fear and fear is always about something in the future that we think is going to cause us pain as it gets closer and closer to the present moment and begins to become it.
We don't fear things that happened in the past...no need to fear them as they are past events. But, as we look at the future and as it becomes our present, we see what we think will hurt us and no one wants to hurt or feel pain. So, we begin to dread these things and the pain we think they will cause us. We begin to fear the experience of pain we are sure is going to happen.
The symptoms of any of the anxiety disorders include not only emotional fear and dread but also behavior: avoidance of the feared thing, attempts to dodge it, saying/doing things to protect oneself from this anticipated pain, etc.
Symptoms are also physiological: heart racing, sweating, feeling restless, fidgety, continuous chewing on thoughts about the feared thing in a vain attempt to "come at it from all angles" in our minds and so somehow lessen the impact we fear. We can also have gastrointestinal problems (the GI system is very sensitive to anxiety), problems sleeping, relationship problems, shallowness of breath, sexual functioning problems, and a host of other physical complaints.
There are some very specific tactics you can learn that will help you manage your anxiety and take your power back in a way that restores a sense of calm--and I can help you learn those tactics.
